I like that Candyman don’t fuck around with scaring you for a week. He’s got shit to do so if you say his name he just kills you immediately. I can respect that.

I wish they could have given Tony Todd more lines than just that one at the end. He's an amazing actor with such a handsome voice

Tony Todd is so nice IRL. Met him at one of our city’s haunted attractions for Halloween, he was the special guest that year. Just an overall great guy.

I wish they would have explained Briana’s trauma a little more. It just felt random, it would have been cool to incorporate it to Tony’s story somehow

So Tony was basically the surrogate child of Helen and the OG Candyman? That's actually kind of cool.

It's really sad when you think about the fact that Helen sacrificed her life in order to save the baby in the first film only for that baby to eventually become the new Candyman himself.

I do love the original Candyman and Tony Todds acting is perfect. He plays him as a gentleman, he never acts threatening or agressively, when he walks every step is precise. He does kill people but i never feel that he got enjoyment from it, mainly doing it as part of his legend. He was a scary character but he didnt act scary. Tony Todd played that role well.

No one ever mentions that the opening credits is a reverse of the original in the 2021 film. Instead of facing the buildings top down the movie opens with a camera looking up from the streets.

I adore Tony Todd, I adore the original, and I actually really adored this spiritual sequel. It was beautifully shot, the performances were incredible, and despite one tiny section that lagged in the church - I found it eminently compelling. If they hadn’t had Tony Todd’s delicious voiceover in the end I’m sure I wouldn’t have loved it as much, but that hypnotic way he talks…makes the original and the sequel. Im both sad and glad they referenced real-life historical instances. I felt like I was rewarded for paying attention to the details. Also, can we acknowledge that Ms. Williams is phenomenal and looks maybe 3 days older than she did in the original? Including her and Tony felt like more than just fan service to me. I can’t say enough about loving this movie. I know not everyone feels the same but it’s a new favorite for me.

The original Candyman is still a favorite of mine, Tony Todd is a brilliant actor! I was so young when the first movie came out and it scared the living crap out of me together with Tim Curry’s performance in IT. Horror movies really were amazing in the 80’s to early 00’s, hopefully this new adaption will be worth seeing! 🤞🏼🍬

Tony Todd looks like he hasn't aged a day, the man is a living legend

Candyman is such a genius horror character in that he wouldn't be on a slaughter spree if you just left him alone but because of human nature, it isnt possible for people to leave well enough alone, all it takes is a little buzz and any legend can easily resurface, he's a great take on human nature imo

Mad props to Clive Barker for giving us Candyman in the first place

I always thought Candyman took Anthony as a baby to get the family back he lost all those years ago. I wouldn’t have thought he would want Anthony to become a Candyman himself but I guess it works

Hey Chris, I feel like you don’t get enough of this, but thanks for these vids man, your ability to break down even the most complex of movies is insane! And I, much like many of your fans enjoy you as a person, as well as your personality and attitude! We all love you, and I can confidently say you brighten all our days!

It's truly horrifying to realize that the baby was doomed to become the new Candyman . Just imagine the heartbreak of his mom and girlfriend.

I really thought Helen would show up as she’s a vengeful spirit now; they mention her name so many times

I actually loved how they only showed the murders in the reflections! That was legit and made it not just feel like a slasher slasher

I thought it was a solid movie overall, lots of fun kills and visuals. My biggest issues were that the ending was kinda rushed, and I kept getting confused with whose memories the various flashbacks were. I also wish the CG Tony Todd at the end had morphed into all the different candyman faces, not just Daniel Robitaille.

A lot of people have so many gripes with this movie but I feel like if they just took a breath and realize how well seasoned it is and researched. This was a college thesis interpretation and I dug it.
