My Story:

I was lost before and even during University, trying to get into the 3D Animation Industry without any luck or any guidance. I didn't even know the questions I needed to ask. My University misinformed me about learning 3D in my program, and I felt like there was no hope. 2 years later, I was working on the most popular kids tv-show world wide. (hey I gotta get your attention somehow)

I'll dissect the process of my Journey for you guys, and teach you what cost me tens of thousands of dollars to learn. Tag along, I'd love to have you here!

Thanks for watching and Happy Animating!

The Blender community needs more professional animators, and more professional rigs! Nice video dude. Looking forward to more!

I've been using Blender for years but I don't know much about animation so I'm watching this for "things I should know already" information and animation tips XD

3:18 I’d recommend setting the “Zoom to Mouse” option in the Preferences. That way, your mouse position becomes the centre for zooming. This helps you navigate around your scene that much faster.

I have a few tips for newer blender users.
firstly if you name your file with a number at the end, the next time you save click the + next to the filename to increment the files name
if you have several characters sharing a rig, you can link/append actions from a master file onto any of this same rig, to share animations easily between characters, this works well with the rigify addon. it means you can make a library of animations and use those in any scene using this rig.
Blender has an incredibly powerful constraints system with literally thousands of uses. its not just for setting up a rig, but can be used on the fly when animating.
blender has an "animate everything" approach to the UI.... pretty much everything can be animated by hovering over it and hitting i, this works for everything from a location (as is to be expected) to material properties, lighting setups, hdri strength, texture coords, modifier properties, constraint properties, basically everything. this is pretty standard afaik, but it can also be used in conjunction with the drivers system, all animatable properties (basically everything) can be controlled with properties from other objects, not just matching properties but basically anything, you can change the rotation of a bone by adjusting the color of a light for example. or change the volume of an audio clip using the distance between two objects. this is done with zero code, although blender can be fully tweaked on the fly with python code.
another awesome tip would be quick menu, almost any command, button, switch, or input can be saved to the quick menu by rightclicking and selecting "quick shortcut", this quick menu is the Q key (at least it was, i use a custom input map and use a spare mouse button) this means you can instantly switch basically ANYTHING in blender with a single button press, its also context sensitive so using Q when hovering your mouse over the graph editor will give different tools, or say you set up some quick shortcuts in object mode, you have different quick shortcuts in pose or edit mode. its SUPER useful when you dont want to learn the admittedly incredibly complex hotkeys, it means you can basically use blender one handed once its set up. great for sculpting workflows.

Yesss Briannnn!! Blender ftw, I'm glad the changes to Maya's accessability are getting solid content creators like yourself to bring in more people into Blender. I've been using it for nearly a decade now and have never looked back. Can't wait till this goes live premiere, and looking forward to more blender content in the future.

Animation idea: using blenders epic cloth simulation and new 2.83 dynamic sculpt tools to have an animated kid running with a bright blue cape on his back fluttering in the wind.

4:34 Those are predefined “workspaces”. You can easily customize them to suit your workflow. Their layouts are saved with the document.

You can save a startup file to avoid turnig on the litle monitor icon every time in scene collection (and other stuff) also you have a factory reset if you messed up the startup file.

One great feature blender have and Maya lack is rotating curves in grapheditor, and also soft selection in grapheditor as well. This IS SUPER COOL in Blender!!!
