I did 3 years in Maryland prisons, they've closed most of those old gothic prisons. I know the one in Baltimore is closed, "Dracula's Castle". They also closed the one in Moundsville WV, I toured it later. At about :54 he calls it "the brake system". That is the slam bar, where prisons got the name "slammer". The one they closed in WV still has the electric chair and you can see a trap door for one of the gallows. Our guide said people would come from miles and bring picnic lunches to watch the hangings. There is a tripod mounted machine gun in the back of the cafeteria and tear gas squirters in the ceiling. Another tripod machine gun aims down a corridor. A line painted on the floor is called "the deadline", you didn't cross that line.

I remember when I was a kid WV had very faded license plates, even when they were brand new. I never knew why until I toured that prison. The guide said every license plate in WV was made there. The inmates pissed in the paint.

I dont get it. 75% success rate for re offending yet its just a intake prison now. Makes alot of sense. They arent proffiting off of convicts not reoffending anymore so they shut it down. Smh.

I think it's for teenagers and youth groups of prisoners people who moved in the area of the country to make sure that they were called in to be able of access to the bathroom door 🚪 in a place.

If we can give prisoners free college free medical and free dental why in the hell can’t we do that for working citizens that have never done anything wrong never hurt anybody never killed anybody never stole anything maybe if we were to offer all these free amenities to everybody no one would end up in

All those Canada goose in the yard. How ironic. They are free as a bird.

I was there 1992-1995. Colin Gau was a AW at the time. The dining hall looks totally new, it used to have carpeting and actual tables and chairs,

We used to be able to wear our own clothes, your family could bring you a christmas package of food at Christmas . Your unit could vote on a meal and then order food from the outside a few times a year. It wasn’t a bad place to do time back then.

I had a 54 month sentence and did 36 of it, did the last 8 months in Faribault .

I think the 75% success rate is 75% don't return to the Minnesota DOC. That doesn't mean a inmate who got released from MNDOC isn't a frequent flyer at the local jails or didn't get Federal time or time in some other state.

I never went back to the Minnesota DOC but i did get arrested by the Feds in 1997 and went to Federal prison for 11 years., i ran into a few guys i personally knew from Minnesota prisons and met a lot more who had previously done state time, so that 75% sucess rate is deceptive.
