Two years after a drunk-driving crash killed the Felipek family, defendant Amber Perera learned her fate.

Hillsborough Judge Christopher Sabella took the bench as a packed courtroom hung on his every word. He reminded Perera of a jailhouse comment she made about her life being ruined. "Yes ma'am, your life is ruined. But you also ruined a lot of lives and ended three lives."

FOX 13 Tampa Bay brings you the important videos like breaking news, Tampa Bay weather, and local stories. But also plenty of fun stuff, like #WeLiveHere tips, the best of our archives, and all those 'only-in-Florida' stories.

You know that you're screwed when your defense is fighting for 20 years.

Instead of paying $20 for an Uber she's paying 50 years of her life🤦‍♀️.

That fathers words are heartbreaking. Poor man I hope he finds some sort of peace while he is still alive.

She’s complaining that her life is ruined in front of the family of the person she killed.
Let that sink in for a second…..

It's amazing how many drunk drivers live while their victims die

Isn't it ironic how the drunk driver is always the one that survives???

She has the audacity to say her life is ruined? OMG! What a selfish, unremorseful sad excuse for a human being. She turns my stomach. 🤮

I had a terrible drinking problem. This video reminds me how lucky I was to avoid hurting anybody. Suffering my consequences issues by the state is brutal. However I thank God daily the Angels helped me avoid tragedy. Just celebrated (quietly) two years sobriety March 23, 2023. Killing or injuring anyone would have crushed me. Thank you Dear God for ending my addictions before real tragedy struck. Thank God. 🙏 my heart goes out to everyone, even the guilty ones.

Don’t drink and drive and you will never go through this. I’d rather learn from other people’s mistakes.

Man I drove to a bar when I was 22. Got buzzed and thought: "I'm not sure I'm OK to drive."
Called a Taxi because Lyft an Uber weren't around at the time. Got home. Woke up the next morning. Walked to the Bar to retrieve my car. (5 blocks away) and went and got pancakes at IHOP. Freedom. It's great.
Jaysus. I made this comment a year ago. Why did it blow up?

She deserves every minute of her fifty-year sentence.

So she said her life is ruined. This demonstrates that she is only thinking of herself and not the lives she took.

She's crying not cause she killed 3 innocent people, she's crying cause she's going to jail.

A friend of mine lost her only child, a twenty year old daughter, to a drunk driver. She had to swerve to avoid him, went off-road and crashed into a barn where the roof collapsed and crushed her to death. He only got five years.

the problem with her is if you let her out, she’ll repeat the exact same thing..

The drunk driver never dies. It's always the innocent family
