I find this method has the highest germination success. BTW, If I didn't mention, after you get the sprout into your cup of dirt, gently mist it a few times a week so it doesn't dry up. Good luck!

I got em sprouting within a week. What I did was picked seeds out of the strawberry  by a knife or you can do with a toothpick. Kept em in water for about 10 mins. (not a required step). And just threw em in a pot of soil and pressed the seeds into the soil gently with my fingers. Finally covered the seeds with a very thin layer of sand. Make sure to keep the pot where it gets sun light or you can keep it under a light. I kept just outside without covering its top and got em sprouting within a week. It was an experiment. I mixed tea leaves from a tea bag I used with the sand. Tea leaves r pretty good fertilizer in my experience.

Thanks. I tried this method and it took me one and half month for the strawberry seeds to sprout. Btw, I am live in tropical Singapore.

I would suggest to water from the bottom... put the seedlings in a cup that has drain holes in the bottom and when it comes time to water, just put the cup in a plant saucer filled with water and let the plant soak/draw up the water from the bottom which will encourage the roots to go down as well...

April 2015 U.K. - Tried other methods and tried yours and its seemed to have worked. I put them in a zip lock bag with a tiny bit of water crystals (that you use to keep hanging baskets moist) and then taped them to an east facing window so they received as much sun as poss without them overheating. Have got 2 germinating after 10 days :)

Usually it takes about 10 to 12 months for a plant to fruit. But it may not be the case always. Usually with good soil within 10 months you're gonna see your strawberries. But It's better to snip off the first year's blossoms for a better harvest for the rest of the plant's life. Hope this helped.

I find that the moist paper towel in a plastic bag will help sprout anything

So no need to freeze the seeds for 2 weeks before germinating ?

what if one sprouts and the other ones are creating mold?

If you put the dried seeds in the freezer for 10-14 days before trying to germinate them, they will sprout much easier. About 75% of my seeds sprouted within 3 days. The rest were duds.

I brought a strawberry grow kit (includes: 1 pot, 1 seed packet & growing medium) at a dollar store for a $1 8). I added water, then weeks later seeds start to sprout plants. Well after another week, plant start turning brown and dying (What the hell!). I always keep the plant in the sunlight and give proper amount of water but at the end, plant died. I love strawberries and I try growing them many times and all I got to say is that growing strawberry plants are not easy as some say otherwise!

Will they bear fruit on the same season of germination or have to wait for another year ?

What kind of soil did you use? Potting mix? Compost? Seedling mix? Thanks! Amazing concentration with the cookie monster in the background, by the way. :)
