RPCS3 PS3 Game ROMs Setup Guide / Tutorial / How to 2024

This Guide will help you access all PS3 Game ROMs on RPCS3.
This Guide works with PC, Handheld Gaming PC , Steam Deck & Mac.

The software you need for ISO format Games:

IRD Files Download website:

PS3 4.90 Firmware Download:
(Select update using a computer on the webpage then click "Download PS3 Update")

RPCS3 Game Rom Compatibility List:

If after using ISOTOOL you get an ISO file with .enc extension instead of .dec
this means your original ISO file has been decrypted. you can use 7zip to extract the original ISO file and put it into the ROM folder it will work with the emulator.

The ISO files i have downloaded don't have the ".iso" at the end of them. Are they really .ISO files? What do i do to make them .iso files?

When I extract a .7z rom file on my steam deck, I am left with a folder and inside is a folder named ps3_game and a file named ps3_disc.SFB. The ps3_game folder has lots of files and folders but no iso or pkg file in there.

This is an older video but any help into the right direction would be great.

I download a pkg file but never see the RAP file appear anywhere... any ideas?

Okay, so you still need to extract the .ISO file for RPCS3 to detect it so what benefit do you get from doing all that over using an Uncompressed ROM Folder format which is pretty much plug and play?

EDIT: I guess I answered my own question, RPCS3 does not run ISOs so you need to convert. I already had the converted JB folder format.

I've been trying to get gt5 to work on rpcs3 for the past 2 weeks, atleast 5 different iso's & ird's, followed tutorials to the letter and nothing. furthest I got was when rpcs3 was loading the ppu's for a few minutes then crashed.

Isnt there a compatibility site for the pcsx3 that can tell you if the game is playable? Though that may also depend on your physical hardware the emulator is running on i guess. It sucks to transfer all these files and then when you try run on Steam Deck it doesnt work.
