It was nothing to do with travel, Brazil offered to pay for India’s flight. India withdrew because they didn’t view the World Cup as being important. At the time the olympics was viewed in higher regard than the World Cup

Tbh prioritizing the Olympics is pretty smart because world cup has alot of competition and only one spot at the top while the Olympics have a good amount of sports which means bigger chances of bringing gold and it doesn't punish second and third as they still get bronze and silver

That's kinda sad, consider now very hard to qualified from asia . Japan - south korea - iran - saudi - Australia level far than other team . In second tier they have iraq, uzbekistan .
Bellow that they have syria, vietnam, china, and north korea when they well feed . Syria - oman - malaysia - bahrain-jordan up and down . Then later india, thailand, Kuwait, lebanon, tajikistan, kyrgyztan.
