DJI Mini 2 - Still A Good Choice in 2023?

I get asked quite a bit if the DJI Mini 2 is still a good drone to buy in 2023. With all the new drones available such as the DJI Mini 3 it can make it a difficult choice. But in my opinion, the DJI Mini 2 is still an excellent choice due to its low cost and capabilities. DJI set the bar pretty high with the Mini 2 making it still a very relevant drone even 2 years later. Some drones being released today still have a hard time matching the DJI Mini 2's capabilities, reliability, and flight characteristics. Definitely, the DJI Mini 2 is still a worthwhile drone to buy if you can get a good deal.

I've been a professional photographer in Toronto for over 15yrs. Always wanted to get a drone to add arial shots to my services but never wanted the headaches of flying the old school phantoms. Got the mini 2 when going away for a 2 week shoot and armed with your video on how to set up and fly a mini 2 for beginners, I successfully used this little work horse every day while shooting and never had an issue. Super easy to fly and get in the air quickly, very good camera for what it is and amazing wind stability for the size.

I have used mini 2 for over 2 years and now a mini 3 pro owner. So have both drones . Mini 2 has limitations in low light. My two reasons for buying mini 3 pro . 48 mega pixel images on mini 3 pro and also the low light photography on mini 3 is amazing . Interms of day time flying mini 2 is a beast .

We have had our DJI Mini2 for 2 years now and found your channel at about that time Shawn. What a great help your guides have been for us as middle aged beginner pilots in the UK! I'm looking at some second hand options: 1. mini pro 3 with RC, 2 batteries and a case for $800. 2. Mavic air 2s fly more $850 3. Mini 2 Fly More Combo $450. 4. Mini 3 with rc n1$470 - which is the best value? Its going to be for a hobby and taking pictures/videos in nature.

I just bought one of these refurbished for a super nice price, and as you mentioned, to beat RID in America. I have 2 other larger DJI drones that DO have RID and thats good enough for the FAA.

I crushed my dji mini 2 twice already... its pretty sturdy and reliable... it still works and the blades are still the same... havent changes anything even after 2 crushes

i love my mini 2, as i am practicing a lot of control n movements while flying. i just passed my part 107 & have used it for my 1st paying job for photos. basic uses but client’s loved the photos it provides. I plan to expand wht i can offer but this is a gr8 drone to start with!!

Yeah! This mighty little mini 2 is still relevant in 2023, especially for light travel backpacking. I've just been to Koh Lipe Island in Thailand recently, and the video captured is stunning after using it multiple times for different travel adventures 😉

2 annoying things on mini 2: gimbal stability and dark recording in shadows. Except those 2 issues its great!

I was aiming for the Mini 3 pro, even pre-ordered it in the shop, but right in the meantime the MINI 2 went down to 500€ including the Fly More Combo, and changed my mind. It was a Godfather's-like proposal, so to say. Exactly 50% less than Mini 3 pro (no combo included). I am really happy with this little creature, it's my first drone so I can't compare it to anything, but it's amazingly stable and easy to set up and fly it. And also tough: many crashes and hits, and only had to change a couple props. Great videos, best price, easy and reliable. Very good video, BTW, I'm glad to agree completely with your assessment. Today's test: below zero temperature, windy and foggy. Wish us both good luck.

Last week I had my Mini 2 is sport mode and flew it full speed into the side of a gazebo. Other than a small piece missing from the body, it still works perfectly. Tough little bugger! (Although I'll admit, my 3D printed gimbal guard likely saved the gimbal. It was smashed to pieces.)

Thanks Shawn. I bought the Mini 2 from Sam’s Club In December 2022 for $379 ( similar package as Costco and same price) this one came with 2 batteries and a charging hub. I thought it was a good deal but all the Mini 3 videos made me think about returning it and just getting a Mini 3 or Mini 3 Pro
