Sorry Canada? Actually, sorry "the rest of the world", because almost every country uses metric system (98% of the countries)

I think they forgot how important ( and ) are.
66 + (weight lbs * 6.3) + (height inches * 12.9) - (age x 6.8)

I eat 2300+ everyday. my BMR says i should be eating 1614 calories a day. I would still be anorexic if i ate like that.

The problem is that the concept of calories itself is flawed. Not only do different people use energy at different rates (thus needed different numbers of "calories"), but all calories are not created equal either. It's a really imprecise measure that doesn't really directly relate to the amount of energy that your body extracts from the food first of all, and secondly, not only do different people burn energy at different rates, but different people also EXTRACT energy and nutrients from food at different rates as well.

If two people eat exactly 1 ounce of peanut butter from the same jar, containing exactly the same composition of nutrients and calories in it, they are both going to get different amounts of nutrients and energy out of it, neither of which is going to be the exact measured calorie content of the ounce of peanut butter.

So really, trying to be precise about this is a bit of a fool's errand...

Here I am loosing weight at 4000 cals a day (during the work week at least). I have to eat 4600 cals a day to gain weight. Gets a bit brutal sometimes, but its doable.

For a male aged 21 training 3-4 times a week I got between 1400-1700 from a variety of sources. The whole 2500 calorie guide is a blatant lie to try and justify processed foods.

When you’re having trouble losing weight, one of the first things I like to do with my clients is to take their weight and times it by 10 and that is the amount of calories they should eat to lose weight. For example: if you weigh 150 lbs, you should eat 1, 500 calories a day to lose weight. This weight loss formula: your weight x 10 = your weight loss calories, is a great way to start.

Her formula was close, but wrong. Here's the real formula with some adjusted parentheses

BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )

You totally forgot thyroxine... it's a hormone produced by the thyroid gland which regulates your metabolism (processes going on in your body) and how fast they happen. People with a shortage will gain weight even if they're eating the amount they supposedly need, and people with too much thyroxine will stay thin even if they eat more than they need

Most Canadians use feet and pounds because we do what we want.

umm.. that formula is fucked up.. if u rly do it like u said the number is like 150 000 or such and no, thats not my bmr, its like 2100 but u MIGHT consider including ( ) next time to that calculation when u start stating that this is how you do it.

My BMR is 1500, so to lose weight people say subtract 500 so I should only eat 1000? Right

I've been told that the given calories on a nutrition label already account for how much energy it takes to break down food, is that false?
