In calvinism the elect are chosen to be saved in Christ. Election and Christ's gospel seem to be the saving mechanism rather than Christ alone

I am not gonna lie "atonement is NOT what saves" sounds like heresy but really it is a true/biblical statement that brings so much clarity on what salvation is composed of.

Kevin have you considered a Video on the importance of "Sanctification" in connection with Jesus Prayer in John 17:17 How that This Transforming Work of the Holy Spirit Cannot happen outside of the Truth and Context of Scripture. Imagine being a calvinist and going to witness to someone..."Good news! you might, maybe have been chosen for salvation before you were born!" How could a person be expected to respond to that? Of course there is nothing you can do about it either way...

My neighbor has a friend whose step-grandson will spend more time, energy, and effort in avoiding doing a task his dad asked him to do such as picking up sticks in the yard, than if he just went ahead and picked up the blessed sticks and be done with it. THAT is similar to the average seasoned Calvinist, they will go to extreme effort to ignore scriptural authority. 😔

Brother Kevin, I think you’re right about Lordship Salvation, the way you’re describing it. But to a lot of people, Lordship Salvation is just the teaching of James. The idea that obedience to Jesus’s teaching is evidence of genuine faith. Thoughts?

Kevin, I am not a Calvinist but have a question:. re not choosing Christ, but believing in Him:
John 1:12 and 1:16 have the word 'received' concerning Jesus Christ. ( I am no scholar, but just using Strong's C.A.), but the Greek is lambano - meaning to take, or get a hold of.
Wouldn't that imply choosing, that is the free autonomous will of the person making a conscious decision to get a hold of Jesus - BY FAITH of course?

Every text Calvinists see must be bent and "panel-beated" to fit into their bizarre, preconceived TULIP-theory. They obviously just can't help themselves, being preordained to do so from before the foundation of the world (Their theory, not mine).
