So does this mean everyone thought the comedian was the serious sermon and didn't laugh?

"I don't know why you're laughing, I'm talking about me"

It doesn’t help that he looks like he’s constantly trying to hold in his laughter

I respect him for being well anchored enough to be so vulnerable about himself.

“The fear of looking foolish” as they sit here and laugh at his vulnerability. This breaks my heart 🥺

The actual comedian, I imagine, had a tough act to follow!

This is the most humblest and most vulnerable preacher I ever heard...the more I study and learn from this man John Piper, the more I love him...❣❣❣

Kind of shows you that people will do things as long as they think they're supposed to do that without understanding the situation.

Ironic considering that he was praising the audience for their perceptiveness.

I know Piper. He really was surprised by the laughter. But his comedic timing is so good, when he saw he was getting laughs, he went along with it. But he really did write that opening part as a serious Piperesque exercise in humility.

Good to hear someone who experiences a thought life very much like my own. Thanks for trusting God enough to let us see behind the curtain. God is good.
