Vizio P Series Quantum X Review: Easily Vizio's Best Yet

Vizio stepped up its TV game big time last year when it introduced the P Series Quantum TV, its first with Quantum Dot technology for expanded color, brightness, and contrast. This year, Vizio ups the ante with the Vizio P Series Quantum X, a TV which aims to take on the best from LG, Samsung, and Sony with a price tag to match. In this review, we take on the question of whether Vizio ditching its value proposition for all-out performance is the right call for the brand.

The Sony X950G is a mid-ranged TV @ a mid-ranged price point. That being said, it looks like Vizio really stepped their game up!

Good review, but don't be so hesitant to say if a "budget" brand beats a "high end" brand. If it's better, than it's better. These budget TVs have obliterated the margins of what make a Sony, LG, and Samsung worth the extra money, you can buy a TCL 6 series, H9F, or Vizio Quantum series and get picture quality that right on par with the big boys. The only thing that would be a gamble is the panel quality with DSE and banding. I wouldn't be surprised if features like VRR and ALLM makes to the budget brands flagship models next year 2020.

I just returned a Samsung Q70 65-inch and got the Vizio Quantum X 65- inch. All I have to say is wow! The Vizio's picture quality is on another level! So much better than the Samsung.

My only concern with Vizio is the Warranty. I had purchased a Vizio E55-E1 and only lasted 2 years. Now shopping for a replacement.

Wish you did more on 720p/1080i upscaling since cable/sat content is that. I have a P Quantum (18) and while it is a fantastic HDR set, it is an average to below average SDR set, specifically in that DirecTV content I watch. Noticeable blooming even on LOW for FALD in the tv guide menu and in some content, and the upscaling is a clear step down from Samsung/LG/Sony (I replaced a Samsung HU8550 with the Quantum, and the HU8550 was definitely better watching 720p/1080i content). Do you believe they have finally changed the upscaler in this set? Would be nice if they made it more well rounded...and I feel your pain with Smartcast. It is amazing how slow it is, and not having a voice remote is a big drawback coming from tvs that do have it.

If you watch a lot of cable/satellite TV, I would think twice on Vizio 4K TVs. The upscaling isn't good for 1080i/720p content. Also, watch for that dreaded dirty screen effect. A lot of Vizio TVs have bad screen uniformity (shadowy/dirty looking spots in panning camera movements). Otherwise, I agree that Vizio TVs can deliver excellent picture quality for anything 1080p or above.

Will buy nvidia shield PRO 2019 streamer w dolby atmos and great upscaling with new chip

Have a lot to unpack and calibrate

Also need a better surge protector

2 years from now will buy mini led, like TCL 8
