Save a thimble of gas; wear out a $1000 starter.😎

Idle stop feature on cars--an excellent example of Federal overreach in an attempt at solving a non-existent problem. Amount of gasoline/polution saved? Probably minimal. Number of starter motors now needing to be replaced much sooner than before? Probably a lot.

This feature is just dangerous. When your car auto-stops at an intersection, and then you go to accelerate into oncoming traffic and it doesn't fire up right away, your timing can be thrown off, lurching you forward at the wrong moment, causing an accident. I despise government overreach and stupidity.

There are NO mixed feelings. This "feature" is a terrible idea. The fact it's on by default makes it even worse.

You’re the absolute best! Everyone else who made this video was tryna do extra nonsense. Thank you for being straightforward!

Man someone ran a red and totaled my 2021 Civic after having it for just a few months. Absolutely adored that car. Got a 2022 figuring it would be similar and couldn’t find 2021s anymore like I wanted. They got rid of everything that made the 2021 cool and added garbage like this. Thanks Honda.

Me: Asks any question. Chris: "Thank you for watching."

This is such a bummer - for people who care about the longevity of their starter and engine, this is just going to wear components out faster especially in the cold weather. They need to provide a way for consumers to permanently turn this feature off.

I cannot believe this “feature” was included on our new pilot, without a way to turn it off PERMANENTLY.

I’ve simply begun to hit the disable button in the same motion as I put it in gear. It’s becoming automatic to me, like buckling the seat belt.

I just took my 2021 Honda Ridgeline to the dealer on a recall of the idle stop feature. The recall was due to the auto stop would not auto start at times. Honda dealer said all they did was a software update. However, I now get a quick message when I stop at a light saying the auto stop is disabled! Yay!

I won’t forget to disable it because IT’S TOO DAMN SCARY HAVING THE ENGINE SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC.

In my 2022 civic sport mode I did noticed it deactivated It but I’ve grown into the habit of just turning it off

The cheaper, quicker and easier way deactivate it forever is to change your car battery and take one that doesn’t support idle auto stop. I did that months ago

I don't know what I hate more. Not being able to permanently disable it or the fact that it's so sensitive when I apply the brake. Why not both, I guess.

This is a disastrous and highly annoying feature for Honda and they need to make its DEFAULT status as OFF, not ON. The driver should have to turn it to ON every time they start the vehicle - the opposite of the current setup.
The Honda dimwit(s) who decided that this obligatory and frustrating STOP-START FUNCTION was a "good idea" should be horse-whipped, then FIRED from the Honda company. 😄

This idle stop irritates me so much had I known it was on my 2023 Honda' Accord I would have never purchased it. I agree with others who commented they cannot believe there isn't a way to permanently turn it off. Its a nuisance.

I'm thinking that you can maybe pop out the switch and do a minor rerouting of the power wire so the switch stays always in the disabled mode? Either that, or remove the fuse for the Idle-stop feature?

Have a 2023 Civic and definitely am not a fan of the idle-stop. That being said, it didn't take long for me to get used to turning it "off" before I start driving.

Pull off the center console and swap the yellow wire. There is a tutorial on which one to plug the yellow wire into. It acts as if you depressed the button and you never have to press it again. Easily swapped when you go to trade it in
