Ubuntu 22.10 is the latest version of Ubuntu, the world's most popular Linux desktop operating system — but what's new?

Well, in this video I showcase all of the new features of Ubuntu 22.10 comes with, plus point out a few other important changes to know.

Ubuntu 22.10 is released on October 20, 2022 and you can download it, always, for free from the official Ubuntu website.

Loving the adaptive UI on resizing windows

Easy access night mode is actually less common than you might think. I am glad they are doing that. I have "distro hopped" many times, and very few are so considerate, for us light sensitive people.

You've done a fantastic job of eloquently and concisely explaining things, great job man

If it gets more stable than previous releases, along with the already sound output swap change made easier, this will be the best Ubuntu so far. In fact, when upgrading from 22.04, it kept ALL settings, this has never happened.
After a few hours on it, it does seem slightly faster and smoother, though it might be my own mind playing tricks.

I was just fiddling with the audio switching trying to get it to work for this video. Glad to see the change.

Gnome has been kicking butt! Glad about pipeWire too, I was waiting on this one. Looking forward to the update. I thought the "open in terminal" has been there for a while though.

All great improvements. They should also consider making switches between multiple desktops easier

Love the interface, it feel more like Windows now with the added benefits of Linux.

Finally there is a video not starting with "step by step installation instruction which takes 10 minutes IN THE VIRTUAL MACHINE".
Though I'm using LXQt and Plasma, but this GNOME 43 makes sense.

Haven't used Ubuntu for 6-7 years, crazy how much has changed since then.

Just went for this even if it wasn’t LTS. Was on a Zorin the last few months but it felt sluggish (otherwise very good).
22.10 feels good so far. One issue I see is that GDrive (online account) files are failing to open unless I copy them to the local. Didn’t remember this as an issue with any other Gnome implementations so far. Not sure what the issue is.

The right-click "open in terminal" is heaven-sent. Previously we had to click at the small arrow at the top of the file explorer. Glad to see the large focus on UI as I have long felt that was the weakness of Ubuntu/Gnome

3:26 I installed a few horrible text editors because I didn't know I had one, thank you for your help.

Hello,
The "Open in Terminal" option has been available in quite a few previous releases of Ubuntu.

Open in Terminal is available on older versions as well. I have been using it for years.
