Ubuntu 22.04 LTS: What's New?

We look at Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, the latest long-term support release of Ubuntu Linux. This update features a sizeable crop of changes, including GNOME 42, new UI accent colours, new dock options, and Wayland as default display server.

This video gives an overview of the most notable changes in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" since the last LTS, Ubuntu 20.04, was released back in April 2020.

I'm a "power laptop" user (as in modern Carbon X1) and this release is FAST! Love Gnome 42 DM too. To improve more, got rid of snaps, installed Flatpak, and got a native version of Ffox. Great video review btw :)

I've never used ubuntu before until when i decided to give it a try last December and upto now i'm still using it. Using Ubuntu has been such a joy because my laptop was always slow with windows and now the performance is wonderful but i did make some few hardware upgrades. Funny enough since i installed the latest version of Ubuntu i thought some of these features were always there in previous versions.

I could see Shutter, probably the best screenshotting app at the moment in the linux world, works in Wayland. A few more to be updated and Wayland gets usable for industrial/business/corporate, too.

The screenshot tool is the best I've ever seen, I wish it was an option to add audio to the video, but even without it I'm very impressed.

But the new logo... it looks like someone added some extra top padding to the css design haha

Seems to be a pretty good release, I will upgrade some of my production stuff at the point release but I will start testing in my experimental setups. I will need to get a handle on nftables.
On the desktop, I use regolith, so maybe there will be some improvements with gnome 42.

Each time the new LTS version is released, I get excited about the new features and UI that comes with the release. But after a few days of usage, I start experiencing bugs which are very annoying. New releases with new features are great, but I think the developers' first priority must be making the OS robust and bug-free.
