Narcissism is a very serious personality disorder that is HIGHLY destructive, it is pervasive and leaves deep scars, please Dr. Phil do not minimize this by making it simply a disorder of vanity, that barely scratches the surface. Please producers talk a look at all the narcissist survivor videos on youtube to get a REAL handle on the devastation here are some channels: narcissist survivor, spartan life coach, sam vaknin, cluster B and me, melanie tonia evans, it is a SERIOUS problem, that effects all of us. This trailer for this video minimizes the severity of this illness and the destruction that it leaves behind. I have loved Dr Phil and just cannot believe his ignorance on this subject and the trivial nature in which this show has presented such a disorder. The only thing we saw was a bunch of haughty people who may have a couple of narcissistic characteristics, but none of which are destructive. These characteristics of Narcissism trivialize the true and horrible nature of this horrifying and destructive psychological disease. Shame on you Dr. Phil.

everyone has a somewhat level of what people call "healthy narcissism". Everyone wants to be the best at what they do, be confident, assume leadership, look good, has fantasies. The line is crossed when people start to view themselves as better than other people. A normal person will have fantasies of success and power but the normal person knows that they have to work hard and earn that success. A narcissist believes they are entitled to their fantasies without any effort or merit. A normal person wants to be attractive or can accept that they already are, the narcissist will believe they are the best looking person or that they are superior to other people because they are good looking. So, narcissists view themselves as superior, infallible, and are unable to accept their mistakes. So there is the difference between a healthy desire for success and flat out narcissism

The comment right below this is SO true! These people destroy lives-& they don't do hat looking in the mirror and being vain. Take a look at some of their other traits. How does a psychiatrist minimize this disorder when they do so much damage o others. This show was shameful. Get a narcissistic mother and her daughters on the show! Actually, narcissists (people who have the disorder) don't necessarily look at themselves in the mirror all the time. No wonder there are so many misconceptions about that disorder.

There is a immense difference between NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) and excessive vanity. The former is far, FAR more serious than the latter!

While the latter may make people shallow, the former can be downright dangerous for ANYONE involved with said person!

This girl just said she has had 7 abortions, and showed absolutely no remorse whatsoever!! I could see and understand 1 abortion, as long as the person takes precautions in the future to keep it from continuing to happen. But you would think after the 3rd, 4th, even 5th! time she would have been like "Okay, if I have sex without a condom, I will probably get pregnant...MAYBE I should get on BC or use a condom"!! God, some people blow my freakin' mind!
