If im not mistaken isnt this scene more impactful for spock, Considering;
-In his timeline Kirks been dead for a while so this is the first time he met this kirk but still sees his old friend
-Hes just witnessed the death of his planet and whilst stranded alone his Greatest Friend has appeared, the one friend who has inspired and comforted him and will stop nero.

Every now and again I rewatch this scene. "James T. Kirk...how did you find me?" I have always loved how he said that line. Like Kirk was there just for him, since Kirk has always been there for him even when he died. The friend line is of course fantastic but I just love the look on his face when he realizes Kirk is there with him. and the music that starts playing is just so sweet. This is a perfect scene

Seeing him turn around, and it's him, and then the small music que, it made me tear up.
This is such a good scene, especially considering this is the original Spock, everyone's seen in the og series.
I say they did a great job keeping the original series continuity while also "recreating" it with this alternate timeline. It's an effective technique for rebooting an existing classic. I actually like this movie.

Fun fact: The Star Trek reboot isn't a reboot. It's still the timeline of the ongoing Star Trek franchise right from the start. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) leaps back in time to find that the timeline has yet changed again.

The fact Spock is so enthralled seeing Kirk that he breaks his expression hits harder knowing the hell they’ve lived through together and how far they will had gone together

It’s kinda cool seeing spock being relatively expressive when we remember him as being extremely suppressive of emotions

When I saw this in the theater, and it got to the moment at 0:33 when Spock turns to face Kirk, everyone in the theater cheered. 🙂

Worth noting that mind melds work as a sort of sharing of two people's psyche. Kirk's reaction is so intense it's amazing Spock is holding all that in and keeping his composure.
