Most everything you buy is an up sell and down.

Real estate agents will always show stuff that you can’t afford to qualify you. Down sell

Cars: up sell

Nowadays, not many have funds to do things they want or need.
Banks are making it impossible to get a loan.
Insurance is covering less and less.

The real question is how to motivate people into needing certain products that aren’t necessities?

I really like to watch/listen what you teach us... and thank you for the opportunity to be able to see and understand business from another/new/functional point of view. You can make money with this process, because you will sell if done correctly but it's unethical and your business or you as a salesperson will suffer in the long run. Give customers the real solution, be upfront with them, don't hide little future problems that forces customers to buy in the future, the customer is smart and eventually catches up and in our capitalist system there will be someone in your industry ready to do the right thing and will eat your profits. Don't listen to this dude.
