How a dermatologist REALLY feels about 'clean' skincare products...

In case you weren’t aware, terms like “clean,” “natural,” and “medical-grade” are just skincare marketing terms! They have no formal definition and technically any brand can use these terms to describe their products. That’s why when someone asks me for my favorite “clean” recs, I honestly can’t give them!

That being said, there are many products or brands that advertise themselves as “clean,” “natural,” or “medical-grade” that I absolutely love using, but not inherently because of these marketing claims.

Most importantly, when it comes to choosing skincare for you, it’s about choosing with intention. WHY are you incorporating X, Y, or Z into your regimen, and what are you hoping to achieve because of it?

And “intentional” skincare doesn’t necessarily mean you’re seeking a specific change in your skin. You could incorporate a product because it purely brings you joy to have it in your regimen!

Professional or medical grade skincare works for me. Drugstore or Sephora skincare causes bad reaction every time. I wish it wasn’t the case but oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️
