As someone who has a lot of skin, I can confirm this guy knows a lot about skin.

UVB - B stands for bad
UVA - A stands for aging

That's the easiest way to remember which one is which, thank you!

In reply to the question about sweating and moisturizer: I realized that (at least in my case) it was because I was applying after a hot shower, so my body was still trying to eliminate heat. To combat this I started finishing my showers cold, which isn't as bad as you might think because you can slowly lower the temp towards the tail end of the shower, both benefitting your skin and using less energy to make hot water.

If the skin is its own organ doesn’t that mean whenever you get a injury you can count it as organ damage?

I love how the people on this series explain stuff SO well to you that by the end of the video, you think you understand more than you actually do about the topic. (I mean this in a good way!)

I just wanna thank to the creators of this video for getting straight into the point rather than dragging it. The thumbnail captured my attention, clicked on it, and my question is answered immediately. Thank you!

22 years old and went in to the dermatologist to check a mole that was growing under my toenail. It showed up when I was like 6 years old and hasn’t changed since then. On a whim I had a doc check it out. They did a biopsy and turns out it’s precancerous and we caught it just in time. Got it removed and everything is good. The anticlimactic stories are the best ones. Get those moles checked!

Just came here to say that I've been following you two (Dr.Maxfield, Dr.Shah/ Doctorly ) since the early days, like many others. And it just warms my heart that you do have come such a long way. It shows! you guys are so confident on camera now (not that you were ever underconfident, just reached tv star levels now), you're getting interviewed by big channels, etc. And all the while doing such honest and helpful service to humanity! lots of love.

I'm so glad you talked about hormonal acne! I didn't even know that was a thing! I've been having acne around my chin that just doesn't seem to go away (mostly due to me picking at it tbh) but now at least I understand why it's there in the first place

"I developed skin cancer back when I was 31 years old."
You're telling me he looks like that and he's OLDER THAN 31?

I had insane amount of acne in my school years. But as soon as I graduated 95% of it disappeared. Turns out, I was lactose intolerant. It was causing all the embarrassing acne, backne, gas, and bathroom problems. We/ I was just too poor to get medically checked. School food was always cheesy, creamy, or overly salty. School should have had more options

I stopped using antiperspirant and deodorant with aluminum not due to health concerns but to protect my clothing. I sweat a lot. The antiperspirant with aluminum was staining my clothes permanently. It made yellow areas on white shirts like T-shirts, but also discolored and left a permanent residue on colored shirts. Once I switched to deodorant without aluminum a few years ago, all of my shirt staining problems were resolved.

As someone who has very fair skin, I use spf 50 and still turn pink but have tanned with spf 100. Generally I just keep my pale self out of the sun.

This guy's so well spoken, so eloquent. Not a single um the entire time.

I love when a dermatologist doesn't make it sound so complicated on explaining things and making it more common sense with ease.

SPF 50 is what is needed. 30 is not enough especially as people never apply and reapply the amount they need for full protection.
