I found Ajahn Brahm about six years ago when I was going through turbulent times (emotionally speaking) since then he has become my master, my guide. I changed my perspectives in life in some many ways!!! I live a happy fulfilling life now. I can’t thank him enough for his teachings and his generosity (and his sense of humor 😂)

"How can you meditate when you're so sick?" Thanks for talking about this. I live with chronic major depression. Despite medication, there are still Severe mood swings happening at designated time of the month, every month. Probably due to damages to the endocrine system or genetic susceptibility. Sometimes it gets so severe, the mind is gripped by negativity, sleep and appetite is off the chart, distressing suicidal thoughts every few minutes or so. Buddha dhamma taught me to take it moment by moment. Just watch and be aware. Don't react. It will pass. And every month, these symptoms repeat but I learn not to be depressed about being depressed. I can laugh about this condition, see it as a gift to help others and to spread awareness. Thank you to BSWA and AOL. Both teach me to focus on present moment awareness and simple witnessing.

Favorite quote from this talk: "When we're with this moment, caring for it, [...] that's when the letting go happens, that's when the miracles happen." – Ajahn Brahm

Accidentally compared his older videos when he was younger and now, he is the first person I know that doesn’t mind getting older :”) it rly helps calm me down to not worry too much.

The monk who was tortured that AB spoke of was Master Hsu Yun who was around 100 years old at the time and once recovered they attacked him again and again he refused to hate, he said he thought of their kamma and felt deep compassion_karuna for them. They left him alone after this, afraid of him. He lived to age 119. Recommended rrading is 'Song of the skinbag' 🙏🏼

I cried for 12 hours straight- just wailing- I felt so disappointed in someone I love and the situation not going the way of truth and light. I realized how important to let go and if people want to live in weakness and darkness then I can only control my presence, my light and live in my honesty. I live in the light and truth of Jesus and Buddha … I let go.. have deep empathy and stop trying to control outcomes.

As a Western Australian Buddhist, I acknowledge  that I live, work and meditate on the boodja  of the Wadjuk Nyoongar people, the traditional custodians of this land. I pay respect to Nyoongar Elders, past, present and emerging. I am grateful to the Nyoongar people, who have cared for this land for more than 60 000 years, and continue to do so.

This talk has popped up in my life, three times now. Always when I needed the lesson. I am grateful for the reminder.

Poor Ajahn Brahm he looks very tired. I can relate, getting older sometimes having less energy. We should get time to recharge our battery. So therefore many thanks for the effort Ajahn Brahm and all the others recording this talk a precious delicate 'gift'.

Observing your breath without controlling it or internally congratulating yourself for observing it is the hardest part . But that really is how you train yourself to enter a flow state
