Kariba Water Rise to Improve Power Supply

Lake Kariba’s water levels are set to surge, promising increased electricity generation for Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This is according to Zambezi River Authority –ZRA- Chief Executive, MUNYARADZI MUNODAWAFA.

This is positive news. My hope is that with the increased water allocation this year, ZRA is actually being on the Conservative side. In addition, I hope that political influence will not come in to influence wasteful use of the water.

So they expect the dam level to peak at 479m. This is in line with my prediction earlier this year that this year's dam pattern was following 2022-2023 closely. That year we peaked at 480, so perhaps they are taking similar facts into account. We will need similar or better rainfall next year to further push up the reserves and buffer us against a drought.
