If your skin barrier is damaged, here are a few things to look out for — sensitized skin, redness, itchy skin, burning or stinging sensations, acne or breakouts, dry or peeling skin.

If you think your barrier is damaged, the first thing you should do is to go back to the basic 3-step skincare routine which is a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Keeping things simple for a few weeks minimizes the chances of irritation on the skin.

Just realized that I was over cleansing, thank you for making this video!

I totally agree with her...i was surprised why myskin is so dull like it lacked lustrous and then realised it was because I overcleansed or over washed my face. Now my skin glows a lot and it feels like a healthy skin to me...I think from my experience I have realised that there needs to be a balance between washing and moisturising skin

I started restricting myself from usingtoo many products and switched to Cetaphil. I think itworked since my skin became flawless in just a month.

For anyone with dry, flaky skin that stings — Curel Ultra-Healing Moisturizer and sealing it with Vaseline really helped me. Your face may need ceramides. Any other “normal” moisturizer stung my face.

I'm sure citric acid is causing me to have small bumps on my forehead and face. I recently started experimenting with different skincare. Before that my skincare was basic. No spots. Now I have spots. Lol.

Its true, we damage our own skin so much just to buy more and more. I ruined my skin barrier so badly i looked like i had an allergic reaction ( it wasnt)
I now use hydrolipid repair oil from mastoora which is natural, it healed my skin but also has protected it from becoming damaged again as i reintroduced a new retinoid.

This is where I'm at right now. I cried and my tears made RED STREAKS of irritation down my cheeks. Not good. Also the stress alone gave me hives on my cheeks... I must be using too many things on my face, though I didnt' think it was that much. I've started reducing it down to just: 1 gentle cleanser, 2 serums (one for day, one for night), and a single moisturizer. Sunscreen too of course.

My skin barrier may be damaged without even using these acids and exfoliating scrub.

I researched the best products for my type of skin which is dry and flaky, and I use Cerave as a moisturizer, cetaphil as a cleanser, and spf 30. i have never had a skincare routine in my life and so my skin felt baby skin smooth after just a week, and my nose acne was going away so quickly and my dumb forehead acne is getting smaller and at a more improved condition

I moisturise during day and I do slugging at night. I put on cerave moisturiser, then medical barrier cream then thick vaseline all over my face to seal it all in.
The redness, blackheads and blemishes are reducing.
I also supplement with skin accumax and skin biome.

Mine is at the point where it doesn't even sting or burn with products. That's why I did not recognize my barrier was damaged. It just gets warm and tight. Sometimes itchy. Ugh.
