Hey yall! Thanks for being here! I absolutely love how this table turned out. Be sure to share any questions or comments you have! I'd love to hear!

That looks amazing. I’ve never seen this method actually used on a piece before but you definitely made it look amazing. Reason I watched this was because I’m building a piece with mahogany, oak and western red cedar so needed some ideas on how to blend the wood shades. Thanks, keep them coming.

I don’t have a table to refinish (well, that’s a lie because I do— that’s just a future project) but right now I am refinishing a wardrobe for my wife… run into the multiple wood species on the mirror frame and I’m trying to overcome this hurdle! This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I’ve watched your video (found it weeks ago when I first tried tackling this project) but it’s very helpful and the table looks great!

Thank you! This video lets me know that I'm not crazy for wanting to try to do a 2 tone with stain. I got Behr custom stain colors from Home Depot and decided that I liked the two together rather than just one or the other. But the key is applying it as you suggested. I'm about to do a door, which is an attached permanent fixture and it's kinda scary, so I'm doing some test pieces first.

The stain you’re “stripping “ with, is that gel stain also? 7:58

I have a antique chair with alot of carvings etc....when we began to stain as its never been done, it has several types of wood. Cherry and pine i believe. What would you reccomend for this chair ? Its a family heirloom and Im devestated its multiple woods when we started to stain. Please any help! Your table is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I'm refinishing my grandmother's hope chest. The body is cedar, but the trim seems to be pine. I'd like to stain the entire piece in an aged walnut stain, but I'm concerned the reddish color of the cedar will make it appear purple, while the pine may not absorb the stain very well. How can I at least make the whole piece one uniform stain color?

In my view, you effectively painted the top, rather than staining it. When looking at the top, one sees the layers of colored stain sitting ON TOP of the wood, as paint does.

So, basically we painted the table (with multiple stains) in a pattern that hides the fact there is different types of wood… I guess I’ll keep searching for another video that actually shows how to stain different woods the SAME color.
