The reasons you should know moving to Derby and why living
in derby & derbyshire will make your life worse than Birmingham.

Derby and Derbyshire were among the centres of Britain's Industrial Revolution. In 1717, Derby was the site of the first water-powered silk mill in Britain. Derby has a green belt area defined to the north and east of the city, first drawn up in the 1950s, to prevent convergence with the surrounding towns and villages. Derby's climate is classified as warm and temperate. The rainfall in Derby is significant, with precipitation even during the driest month.

You need to get your facts right before putting somewhere down like that. I've lived in Derby for over fifteen years and have not come across anything you have claimed. Derby may not be the best city but it doesn't deserve your negativity. People should judge for themselves.

I don't think I have ever heard/seen a more poorly researched and presented video. Your comments can be applied to any town or city to a greater or lesser degree and you offer no evidence to support some of your more sweeping statements. If you cant do better than this I wouldn't bother,

I was born and raised in South Derbyshire and spent 23 years living in Derby. It's not that bad!
Yeah, it's a small city but who wants to live in London with the crime rates there?
It has most of the big name shops in the main shopping centre, which incidentally is the biggest in the East Midlands.
Stalkers? Really? I am not good looking but I know people who are and NONE of them have have problems with stalkers!
Derby is an ancient city with some truly beautiful architecture and a gorgeous cathedral and is also very historic. I would rather live there than Nottingham and get knifed! 😭😭😭

A very important city, historically. We also have Rolls Royce aero engines made here, is the principal city of British Rail, Toyota is South West of the City, we have a renovated Arboretum, the country’s first public park, The Silk Mill (the country’s first factory) One of the founder members of the Football League, Derby County with a fine stadium and nearly 30, 000 crowds even in League One after nearly going out of business.
We’re in a prime location, near the Peak District, and England FA chose a site nearby to set up their new headquarters.
Pretty rubbish, eh?

I had the unfortunate experience of moving back to Derby in 2020. I lived in Mansfield and Sutton In Ashfield for 13 years prior to this.

I remember growing up in Derby when we had a bustling Eagle Market, the streets were lined with allsorts of interesting shops like Huckleberry Willow, Faulds music etc and a great nightlife scene. All gone now, most people travel to Nottingham for nights out now. The way the Eagle Market traders were treated by the council was disgraceful.
What's replacing the Eagle Market? yet more unaffordable 'flats'.

The area I landed up moving to first off was a truly dire part of Alvaston, Crewton Way. Disgusting place, an absolute haven for criminals. I experienced several incidents of harassment from men growing cannabis in the flat above mine, it was one of the worst experiences of my adult life, and I have been through a lot. Thankfully I have moved away from this area now.

There seems to be a lot of mentally ill people in Derby as well, just wondering round the streets.

There's a lot of aggressive beggars on St Peter's Street, and open drug use and dealing in broad daylight since the police presence there was drastically reduced.

The thing that shocked me most was the huge number of rough sleepers. I went into town one morning and almost EVERY SINGLE shop doorway had someone sleeping in it in a sleeping bag surrounded by litter and alcohol cans.

There is dog faeces EVERYWHERE. I am a dog owner who always cleans up after my dog. I have got so fed up of it in my local area that I am now going round with a can of water based chalk spray paint painting it all fluorescent pink in the hope of embarrassing dog owners into cleaning up after their dogs. I frequently see dog owners just walking off and leaving it all over the park and all over the kids play area.

There is NO social housing, the social housing 'list' is virtually empty now, there are no homes for anyone in Derby.

Derby USED to be a nice place to live. This is just my opinion and I do not expect others to share it if they disagree. These are the things I have personally observed since I came back here to live, they do NOT reflect the opinions of others.

This person is a liar. I have lived in derby all my life and it has many homes and loads of places to go like camping, shopping and don’t get me on disabled people. They have many disabled toilets which is obviously good for the city, many places for disabled people. And derby obviously isnt a ginormous city but it is a reasonable size and can fit many shops, a stadium, tons of homes, a big area of Rolls Royce buildings and we still have many fields which are crops and many others. So don’t go saying bad stuff about Derby when it’s a good city. And yes there are some stupid drivers but every city and place has them. Don’t listen to them there just spreading fake info about Derby and making people not want to go when mainly everyone is nice and kind. The shopkeepers are kind so don’t listen to them.
