Another study is getting headlines claiming that eating red meat causes higher TMAO levels which increase the risk for heart disease. But as we have seen many times before, these data are incomplete and unreliable. Once you look deeper into the study, you see why you can't trust the headlines. Plus, we include tips so you can better understand how to evaluate these studies.

We need to stop saying that these studies that don’t account for healthy user bias are “weak evidence.” They are not evidence at all, and can be completely dismissed immediately upon finding out they didn’t follow basic scientific principles of correcting for confounders.

I remember filling out a long food study in the 90's. I remember because I tried really hard to fill it out as accurately as possible and I was living in my first apartment. Why would people assume that we would continue to eat the same way throughout our entire lives? I've changed NUMEROUS times for extended periods. Every. Diet. In.the. books. Only being in ketosis has allowed me to easily lose weight, taken all my joint pain, and had all my blood levels normalize. I eat a very high red meat diet. Almost no plants. I feel my best when I eat only beef and pork. Prayers for everyone who reads this to become healthy and stay healthy.

Thank you for making this issue of eating meat balanced and clear. I am so confused with the controversy but Diet Doctor always takes a very level approach, 👍🏻

Great presentation. Bit of a stretch to even call that study "research" but that's the prevailing lingo. What I like best about this video is that it also gives a good lesson in how to analyze the quality of a report. Thank you Dr Scher.

Why did going to a high fat low, low carb diet effect my A1c in such a way that it went from 10.6 to 5.5 in less than a year? My lipid panel was all in healthy range also. For the first time every. I love me some vegetables but since cutting them out I am as healthy as I was when I was a kid.

So glad you posted this! My husband shared that meat article with me a week ago, because I’m carnivore. Just reading it, I said that it was poor science, epidemiological, not controlled, healthy user bias, etc. But my husband never believes a word out of my mouth. He’ll believe you, though!

My question is not about the poor quality study. It is about how can reputable organizations accept these papers for publication?

Videos like this have helped me understand that there's an _awful_ lot of studies that do science poorly.

As I understand it, most of these studies also don't differentiate between a good quality steak and a hideous hot dog.

It's like a meal at mc Donalds, you eat processed fries, fried in seedoil.Drink a big milkshake, loaded with suger and a burger, a processed bun with processed sauce and a meatpatty. People devellop health issues and they put the blame on the

Carnivore diet July 6th 2021 lost 57# completely off high blood meds, first time off thyroid meds in 35 years, autoimmune disorders gone, arthritis gone, skin tags and blemishes gone, A!C from 6.8 to 5.2 in 1 year, I have not felt this good in 30 years. Did I mention I am 71 year old male?? We have been lied to our whole life, if your Dr still wants you to follow low calorie, low fat diet you need to find another Dr. I live by example!!

Brett, Lets you and I do a collaborative video on the folly of Epidemiology. One thing I continually repeat and push for is we MUST eliminate the use of the terms 'Risk', 'Hazard', and similar. Associative studies cannot inform on either... at all. We should also stop using the term prospective - these cohort 'studies' are nothing of the sort. Also interested in the totally inappropriate use of 'adjustment', i.e. fabrication of outcomes... Let me know. Thanks.

If you follow the money you'll know the final conclusions of the "scientific study" before it even begins.

I just received a newsletter from Unsettled Science by Nina Ticholz on this study, guess what? The study was funded by Procter & Gamble. That says it all.
Nevertheless, an excellent analysis and debunking Dr. 👌

Forget the red meat, I saw a fat couple sit down to a “ meal” of caramel macchiatos and chocolate chip cookies. Clearly something has gone wrong.

How trustworth are the results you showed at 02:37?

All I do with people who argue for avoiding meat, is point at the canine tooth, showing we evolved to chew meat. We can't unravel our evolution.

I'd take 'red meat' over 'green meat' any time.

Conclusion drawn. No study is worth putting significant value in.
