The chess master doesn't know ALL the possible moves and outcomes of the game, unless he is playing a novice. If he knew everything then he would be undefeatable.Yet, no one has ever come to that stage, nor will they ever. Unless of course, if they are God Himself. :-)

If the eventual outcome is "god's plan", then the fate of the universe and everything in it is predetermined, so how do we have free will?

In oither words, god as described here does not know future (and therefore does not know everything). He can make guesses, but otherwise has no idea what will actualy happen. Got it.

Just like when you roll dice. You may know beforehand all the posible results, but you have no idea about future and therefore just like god, you are not omniscient.
