Cal Hockley Tries to find Rose - Titanic, Extended Carpathia Sequence (Deleted Scene)

Cal tries to find Rose - and even thought he did, when he eventually came across another red-haired woman on the Carpathia. You can see the difference between the original and deleted scenes by their colour tint.

They should have kept it, it shows how much of a twisted character he was, went into a fit of rage to kill her a few hours before and now shows desperation when he thought he found her.

He wasn’t looking for her because he “cared” for her, he was looking for her because in his eyes she’s his property, she belongs to him. Also she has the necklace.

There was a printed list of all titanic survivors in the weeks that followed the sinking so I find it hard to believe that they never came across a Rose Dawson and thought, “huh. Jack Dawson. Rose Dewitt-Bucator…. Jack Dawson… Rose… Dawson.. 😱 she’s

I do think Cal had genuine feelings for Rose and was deeply saddened by her falling for Jack. I do think he did genuinely care for her and it wasn’t just a paper marriage in his mind.

I saw this scene years ago, when I watched Titanic on TV. As far as I am concerned, Cal wanted Rose, not because he loved her, but because of his own pride. He could not bear he had lost her to a poor boy like Jack. I think also when he looked for Rose, he did it just to recover the diamond. Regards.

There was actually going to be a different version of this where he does find Rose and she confronts him and tells him to tell her mother that she is dead and that her name is Rose Dawson and that they will never speak again sadly it was never recorded but it was in the original script there’s a video of someone reading the original script that also has all of the deleted scenes in it

I actually think Cal redeemed himself in this scene.

Cal obviously was a bully to Rose & Rose was forced to marry him against her will just so her mother can remain rich.

But Cal realised he was as an asshole to Rose & even though he missed her on the ship somehow, he accepted along with Ruth, Rose 'died' during the sinking & will live with that for the rest of his life on his conscience, as he did chase her and Jack into the watery depths of the sinking Titanic with a gun.

I think it's entirely possible deep down Cal did care about Rose & he and her could have had been in a relationship if he simply treated her like Jack did.

The way he said ‘Rose’ sounded so relieved and excited and happy… he did love her, just that he didn’t know how to love her the way she wanted and liked… and he couldn’t give her that kind of romantic love…

Cal was desperate to find Rose ONLY to get that necklace back. He’s a jerk and we all know that.

Rose didn’t want Cal to find her cuz she doesn’t love him. Whereas Cal doesn’t truly love Rose.

But it seems that Cal finds Rose, but she convinces him to leave her and he says she is too special for him, she promises that she won't tell about his sins in the night of the sinking and he should tell her mother that she died.
