I watched this video because I am brand new to sewing and right out of the gate I am having tension issues. I even had trouble following the manufacturers issues on how to thread it. You covered both issues, but the filming of your bottom hand when all the action was going on at the top of the machine with your upper hand was absolutely crazy.

For me, it was a loosely threaded bobbin. I just put a new bobbin on the winder, and re-wound to the new bobbin. Fixed my tenstion problem. I do appreciate how the tension adjustment was shown - I had no clue! This is a good troubleshooting video, thanks!

Had an issue with my FS101, was getting bird nests underneath each sewing start, for about 1 to 2cm birdnesting. Studied Youtube videos for hours and tried everything, nothing solved the nesting. New needles, new and different thread, new threading, cleaning, nothing solved the birdnesting at the beginning of each sewing. Saw nothing wrong on the bobbins or the bobbin casing. Ordered by coincidence recently 2 spare bobbin cases. Gave it a try and changed the bobbin case and voila, no more bird nests at all. Even so I could not tell what was wrong on the "old" bobbin case, the replacement of the bobbin case was the solution to the problem. Just in case, as this is not mentioned as possible troubleshoot solution ;)

You breezed so fast through those tension issues at the beginning - you didn't show if the stitches were different at the different tensions

Girl I could hug You're a total life savor! I was sick of this sewing s--t! I came close to throwing it in the dumpster along with my expensive fabric. Couldn't figure anything out. It wouldn't feed through, and I had to pull it! You're knowledge has me on the road to a gorgeous little quilt, and I thank you so much! My husband thanks you even more 'cause now he doesn't have to hear me whining about it!

You might want to show the tension samples for more than a split second.

I'm having problems with the tension and found this unhelpful as you went through the tension issueso quickly. I'm still none the wiser about where I should have the dial set for the different types of fabric.

Thank you so much! My dog ran through the cord that was stretched over to the outlet and my sewing machine flew through the air and broke apart on the floor. I got error code e6 so found your video. My sewing machine is working again! Thank you! My son just got interested in sewing and I was so upset that my machine got broken.

It was definitely the tension that was messing me up 😩 my first time quilting and I’m using the walking foot. The bottom thread would just be a mess in the back and I was getting so frustrated why it wasn’t working. I checked everything from bobbin to replacing the needles. You said it might be tension and I put it up a bit higher and it came out perfect on the back!! If you’re using a walking door defiantly put it up around 4-5

Dusting fixed my machine that had been sewing backwards. Thank you!

I followed the troubleshooting FAQ on Brother and watched this vid - which basically summarizes those FAQs. I am a good engineer and this Brother CS7000i has NEVER stitched anything without leaving a nasty bunched up mess on the underside. The top looks fine. However, even when I have a long stitch. It will start with a little bunch or hang. Then, I can continue for a couple of inches where it looks great and then randomly the last two inches are a rats nest. Fortunately, it is mostly when I am repairing my old work jeans. That material is 9 ounce twill and I am backing up the rips and holes with one of those (pathetic) iron patches that never iron on. So, I am doing only straight stiches with the correct default foot. Medium duty pure cotton twill thread on the needle and bobbin sides. Not one thing other than all default settings. Tension set between 1 and 2. Hand start and hand tack beginning and end (using the wheel, not the foot pedal). You can conact me here with any bright ideas!

PSA: Avoid brother machines, especially economy class (SE600 etc). They are garbage. The machines are so finicky. I've had it nest at random and jam up. I can't get through 1 pattern without any trouble, like ever. I find that I have to reinsert the bobbin, but before cutting it, i have to violently tug it through, only then will the bottom thread stop showing on top or the top thread nesting below. Slowly it deteriorates and I have to keep reseating it. Forget tension dials, they don't work, period. 1 - 9, all the same result. Hate this crap!
