Perfect I was too stupid to try turning the dial. The only problem is I am now even dumber for having actually watched this.

Tension varies according to your project. The higher the number the tighter the top thread the lower the number the top tread will pull more to the back of your fabric and possibly unravel or worse “bird nest and jam the machine. Always do a test swatch!

Yes we know where the tension wheel is.. you should have someone speaking to advice which way to turn it to tighten or loosen.

What is the point of this video if there is no instruction as to which direction tightens the upper thread, that is looping underneath. The manual didn't help either because in written instructions it tells you to adjust to a "Higher" number but the diagram shows moving the dial to a "Lower" number. In my experience numbers defined as higher would be rising from 0 to 1, 2, 3, etc.

Where should it be set on a straight stitch? My old Singer was simple. Hadn't sewn in 25yrs and can't seem to get my top or bottom threads tight enough

How to fix when the machine keeps cutting the thread even though we tried tightening and losing

I was initially really excited about my new sewing machine, I’d finally gotten a top notch machine after having a beginner one for years.
Now after a hour of trying to figure this out I want to return it and never buy from this brand again.
I’d also advise others not to buy this absolutely painful product, it is not worth your sanity.

I just found the LS1217 today at an estate sale, and it was very very dirty. As I was removing the parts to clean it, the thread guide/bobbin disc won’t screw back on. I as so upset as I was ready to test sew on it. Any idea why there is just a hold in the machine and why the hole is not threaded. Thanks

Ok, after reading the instructions with a link to this video, the existence of this video seems justified. But as a stand-alone video, it is seriously lacking context. Given both perspectives, this video could use a bit more demonstration of the loops that can occur on the top or bottom. What is it dependent on? The type of thread? The type of fabric? The weather? Elaborate in the video.

Is it that the more tension at lower number? As I see the holes when the tension is tighter which is at the lower number. Does this mean higher number lesser tension?

My tension is messing up every few minutes, I sort it out and then it messes up then I just have to let it sit for 24 hours but it doesn’t take long before it messes up again, I have my own business so need to sew, it probably needs a service but we’re in lockdown no where is open
