The bobbin case in most modern machines can be responsible for known issues - thread breaks, thread nesting, the bobbin case popping all while sewing. In this video, I'm going to show you what to look for on your bobbin case to see if that's the issue so you can fix it and get back to sewing!

Do have a video on how to put the bobin case back in place.

My bobbin case was pristine, not a mark on it. Good to know, I'll get a couple for just in case. The nest was intermittent so I unscrewed and took off the bottom cover from underneath the bobbin area not the entire bottom (Singer 4423.) AH HA! Not only was there a bit of lint there, but also a broken thread that was attached to to the gear. I cleaned it up leaving the grease as best I could. Works like a dream. Thank you.

This just saved my life! Gurrrrlll thank you thank you thank you! 🎉🎉 so I didn't have time to buy a new one, but I did see quite a few scratches and some holes and I just took a nail file and smoothed everything out around.. And it works like a charm now! 🤯 thanks for making this! Saved me from thinking I need to buy a whole new machine 😂

You are a gem. Please don’t always assume that it’s a woman Sewing ha ha. I am a man and I use my heavy duty singer to do all kinds of repairs and necessary adjustments. I’m a terrible seamstress. However, I do my best. I am having a little problem with the bobbin case and I appreciate your offer to leave a message here I’m gonna work on what you said in the video now.

What if the corner spring isn’t working? Does that help hold it down? Mine doesn’t have a chunk missing but will not stay in place

I have an issue that even with a fresh bobbin case it goes out of position and then there's first needle hit. The springy stop seems to be alright and the hold from the top on the other dide as well. Anything to look for? I think it may be jumping a bit up and going past the springy stop.

So I’ve replaced my bobbin case but I still have the same issue… my thread keeps getting caught on the silver metal plate edges around the bobbin case. I’m not sure how or why.

Thanks. People give me old machines and I grew up with a Singer 301a. Top load is still a bit of a mystery. Also i think it’s good i am a weakling! I learned to sew in approximately 3rd grade/1965. I was never pushing or pulling my fabric. Some friends really try to wrestle their projects!

Oh boy! My bobbin case was in worse shape than your example! The needles just chewed it up. Into the trash with it!

Great video thanks. My bobbin case started rattling and vibrating whenever it started stitching on a Brother machine I'd had for a few months, the stitching was bunching and tangling straight away. The only slight damage I could find on the bobbin case was a very, very small scratch on the underside. Anyway I changed out the bobbin case for another and it fixed it. It looks like this thing is very sensitive to any slight damage.

I have a SE400 Brother sewing machine. It sounds like it's clunking from the bobbin case. I put a new needle, new bobbin, cleaned and oiled it. Still clunking. There is one tiny spot where the needle hit once. Could that make the clunking?

Hello, I'm hoping you can help me. I have a Brother NQ1600E Embroidery machine that I'm having bobbin issues with. I've inspected my bobbin case and there are no apparent problems, it looks new. I am working on a E2E quilting design but my bobbin keeps unthreading itself at all different stages of the stitching...sometimes within the first 100 stitches and other times throughout and then even within the last 50 stitches. I'm using my own wound bobbins. I am very desperate at this point. I greatly appreciate your advise.

My bobbin case keeps moving out of place and the needle hits it. How do I get it to stay in its spot?

I got oil on the magnet under my bobbin case on my brother se400 and it caused it to lock up and put it in safety mode, I tried to dry it out with alcohol and it did start back sewing but I cant get all the oil out. Please help can I get a new part for this?
Thank you
Judy

Good evening, thanks for your video and helping us sewers out here. I do have a question. My bobbin thread wont pull out unless i wiggle the wheel for the needle back and forth. It sews fine only catches every once in a while and breaks the bobbin thread not the top. Does it sound like a bobbin holder? I have an old brother. I love it. Thank j
