Also consider the post in your patio. You could use the ZeboZAP that mounts concrete pillars or metal post. Does not require drilling .

How should we proceed with stucco on wood frames? Expansion anchors or drilling/screwing into a stud?

Woildnt worry about it slipping out. But tapcons are meant to hold items tight against a flat surface. Biggest problem with tapcons is that since they are made of hardened steel they have zero flex and will snap. Id worry about the heads snapping off

You have to use fasteners that go through the stucco and into the block far enough.

Don’t forget to use gorilla glue first and then after a week do a weight test and if that doesn’t work use silicone water based caulk to really keep the grip in check 😉
