I like hiking in the lone peak trail runners, but my pair did NOT last long. Hole in the upper, inner liners shredded. I don't know if they were ever truly waterproof. I'm going to try the lone peak hikers next.

I'm about to resole my Altra Superior 3.0 with Vibran Zegama (trail running) soles...But in the meantime In wearing a $30 pair of Whitman barefoot shoes and I basically like them as well as the Superiors....Borh shoes are excellent

Hey! Thanks for all the great altra vids, I’m hoping you can answer a question I have. Altra has discontinued the king MT, a favourite shoe of mine and my families. I live between New Zealand and Hawaii which means anytime I’m on a trail I’m covered in clay and mud, the king MT has been the go to shoe for that reason. I’m wondering what shoe Altra has to fill the gap for technical, high moisture, OCR type conditions ? Any help would be so appreciated, thanks bro!

Thanks for the review! I use Torin 4.5 Plush in the size of 11 US. When trying Lone Peak 5, I found they are much larger (not using the wide option) so I use 10.5 US (I "swim" in the 11US size). What is the size of the Lone Peak Alpine vs Lone Peak 5? Does it run large too? Is it based on Lone Peak 5?

What is your opinion on the LP Alpine for walking on paved trails and dirt paths? The website said it's suede. Is this a synthetic suede-like material? According to Altra's website the LP Alpine has a Duratread sole and is supposed to be more durable. Being that the LP Alpine doesn't have a stone guard, I wonder if the Duratread sole will provide enough protection when stepping on small rocks. The Timp 2's offer very little protection when stepping on rocks in the heal area. I just received the LP's in Khaki and the rubber in the soles appears to be rather soft and looks like it will wear out pretty quickly. The sole is actually softer than the Timp 2's I have, with the exception of the exposed EVA sections. The sole of the LP Khaki seems like the same amber-colored gummy rubber material found on desert boots. I really like the color but not the soft sole material. I'm thinking about trying another color LP 5 to see if the sole is made from a different rubber compound. The shoes are comfortable and the cushion seems just as good as the Timp 2's. I found that the LP 5's ran full size larger compared to the Timp 2's and about a 1/2 size larger than the Timp 1.5 in 11.5 size. Being that you own a shoe store, your opinion is much appreciated. Good stuff! I never heard of Altra until my physical therapist at the time turned me onto them in 2016 when I was having some knee trouble. I've been hooked ever since. She broke me of my Newton addiction...ha!
