Lots of great response on the Lone Peak 5.0 from runners. I would love to hear from folks who used them for backpacking-- especially where you have near 20 pound base weight.

Yay! i cant wait. I did buy the Altra 4.5 and they are sad! I did not send them back because I thought i would eventually fall in love with them. It did not happen. I felt like they were stiff and one of my toes kept bending... not comfortable at all. I still use my old Long Peak 3.0 thank you for the review

Just got my pair and really excited for the midsole, should be better than the 4.5. I agree on Vibram, but I know that it is a price play here. Should be the best version ever as long as fit remains on point.

Looks like everyone wants the same. A Vibram Litebase outsole on this thing and it sounds like it would be perfect.

Finally, this seems like worth upgrading from my Lone Peak 3.5s! Nothing has been as comfortable and usable since the 3.5. I'm excited to try these out!

I loved my lone peaks! I just wished they had more cushion in them as the bottom of feet would get sore throughout the day! I wear them as my daily because they’re so comfortable! Tried the Timps and they felt narrow compared to the lone peaks!

Just got mine today! You guys are absolutely awesome! got the wide version and they feel good. Just couldn't do the loan peak 4.5s and these already feel night and day better!

I hope, more than anything, the shoe company my feet and body love the most has addressed the durability issues throughout their lineup. Finding lugs chopped off after 1 run, midsoles getting punched out way too early, and uppers blowing out the sides before 120 miles. Like a battered wife I keep coming back to them because I love them.

I just got a pair of the LP 4.5 after being a big fan of the LP 4.0, which feels like you are not wearing shoes at all! These are the perfect hiking shoes for the Southern California mountain ranges...

The width from the latest altars haven’t been the problem for me. It’s the tightness across the midfoot. The Torins and the Superiors felt like a guillotine across my toe where the fabric breaks. Really wanted to like them. Loved the foot cushion but couldn’t cope with the upper.
