The Ugly Truth About Mushroom Supplements

Watch this video to find out why growing environment matters, grinding process, and how you can make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck.

Mushrooms have supported me in a handful of different situations. For ex: Lion’s Mane is what I use daily for brain health and cognitive performance, reishi to wind down, relax, and de-stress, cordyceps for a pre-workout, reishi spore oil for meditation sessions, and so forth. Different strains call for different situations. But the ugly truth about most supplements in the store or on the market is that they’re not using the activate part of the mushrooms, nor a quality mushroom that’s grown properly.

I bought four sigmatic once, felt nothing, thought it was good cause Thomas delour pushed it, until I started watching your videos and learned of alpha dynamic, tried it felt great and have been buying it for 4 months now, I don't mind paying for something that's potent, quality and pure so thankyou once again for your work it's a great service!

This is misleading. Research shows the most likely active compound in lions mane to be erinacine A, which is found in highest concentrations in the mycelium, which does not include the “stem” like you said in this video. This is why most consider the leading brand for lions mane at the moment to be oriveda and its specifically because it’s extract of mycelia culture which again studies show to be the most significant in inducing NGF production

I'm a local grower in my area. We grow our mushrooms in soybean hull and hardwood fuel pellets, and so do most growers that I'm familiar with. I've taken different mushrooms in many forms, but the best I have found are tinctures. There's a few vendors in ebay that do double extracts. To me it's most convenient as well.

Really appreciate your video. Thought I'd add that most mushroom supplements these days in stores are grown on brown rice. Might be good to add an annotation so people know to avoid that as well.

Hi Steven, appreciate your taking the time to share your experience. I’m taking a combination of Noni juice, reishi & lion’s mane (all organic) and am still experimenting with dose.

Research shows the majority of mushroom based suppliments will take at least two months to have any effect. I find lions mane does have a stimulent effect when you take it. What you are saying about being grown in an as natural environment as possible makes sense as this is he case with everything we consume. However, what you are saying about mycelium not having any benefits is incorrect, there are nutrients, etc found in the mycelium that are not found in the fruit which makes me doubt everything else you say and you have sourced zero of your information.

Tonic Tinctures’ aqueous extract is an absolutely top notch product: grown on hardwood, entire fruiting body and sclerotium, highly concentrated. Been using it for about 5 months now and am extremely satisfied.

Independent research and Paul Stamets seem to show that both fruiting body and mycelium (and the mycelliated substrate) have medicinal benefits. Some components can actually be higher in the mycelium. It takes some digging to find info, because so much of the authoritative proclamations stating that fruiting body is the only beneficial part come up first in searches, and are mostly from commercial sites. Yes, traditional use of fruiting body is compelling, until you realize that utilizing mycelium hasn't been a practical option until recently, with advances in Mycology, cultivation, and scientific understanding. And it happens to be more economical.

Thanks man, Just got my lions mane and I've been using it for a couple days. I made a review and added your channel in my bio, thanks for the link to some great quality stuff! I can definitely feel the difference.

i'm mostly with you on this, particularly in your low regard for Paul Stamets. But you are being inaccurate about fruiting bodies vs mycelium. Lion's Mane mycelium has eranacine, which correlates in studies with neurogenesis. Eranacine is only found in the mycelium. The problem isn't that vendors like Stamets sell mycelium. It's that they sell supplements that are mostly growing medium. I've seen you do this a couple times and it undermines you to anyone who's read the literature.

Learned something new today! I don't take mushroom supplements, but hearing what you had to say about a noticeable difference with the better methods/brands, I'd like to look into mushrooms more now.

And let's not forget the glyphosate on those oats! Thanks for this info! I make my own medicinal mushroom broth from dried, sliced mushrooms. I get them from Oregon Mushrooms.

Actually, Studies have shown that there are many more nutrients in the stem than in the fruit
