I have a 1986, 15hp, and someone had made a 1/8" plate steel bracket that mounted I to the front two holes and had a flat that bent forward to attach the steering. They also had attached an arm to this piece, that was used for the shift cable. A one piece solution and worked great. I am currently trying to track down a tiller handle for 1986-1992 motors to convert back to tiller control. If you have a lead let me know. Thanks, and great video!

I have 84 evi 15 pull start! My kill(stop)button is located right where throttle cable goes through there 3:48, 4:20! Or explained in a later video? Thanks!

If I have tilt tube steering do I still need the bracket that hooks up to the two holes or do I just bolt the connecting rod straight to the motor?

I ordered snap on evinrude cables for my simplex, the new style that has an arm with an eye at the end and they hook up to the motor perfectly However, my simplex is setup to receive the old wire end. Can I replace the plastic guide the cable runs thru in the box or will I need a whole new control box?

Just curious of where u found the attachment for the steering cable to go in. I recently just came across a 88 evinrude 9.9 it has the plate but I'm trying to figure out how to add a steering cable to it.

You could have created something like a bike wire mechanically run it along your steering wire and use that for the choke

Brandon I have a 95 Johnson 25 hp with tiller throttle. I would like to switch it to remote steering and throttle lever controls. I don’t mind keeping it stock with pull start. I just wanted to know if I could use these parts on a 25 hp instead of a 15. If you could please give me some advice I would really appreciate! Thanks

how do you install the brackets for the gear shifter and throttle, i have an older johnson outboard (85 i think) and im struggling to find a kit for it. cheers

How ridiculous would it be to just add remote steering/throttle/shifting but keep pull start? Mine is an '88 15hp on a 16' jon boat. Console would be added just forward of the rear bench so the motor would still be within reach... I like the idea of electric start but when I start adding up the parts it's a little daunting when it pull starts quite easily right now. I think I read somewhere that some people do this and they just add a remote kill switch on the console... Maybe I'll slowly look at buying the parts for it... It's likely a winter project.

Can you convert a 2012 8hp Mercury to a 15hp, i have heard that you can but i cant seem to find much information on it.

I cant get the throttle hooked up on mine. Mine is a 90s 15hp. The throttle cable I have is way to big to fit around all the gears. Could you message me so I can give you my email and send you pictures of the issue?
