5 Natural thyroid remedies that actually work to heal your thyroid the all natural way. These natural therapies include diet, lifestyle changes, supplements, and more.

Are you looking to naturally treat your thyroid? If so, then you will want to check out these natural thyroid remedies that I recommend for all thyroid patients.

The best part about these natural remedies is that they can be used IN ADDITION to thyroid medication that you are taking or they can be used by themselves to help avoid the use of medication (if that is your preference).

These thyroid natural remedies have been tested by me and I've used them successfully in MANY patients.

Here are 5 natural treatments and regimens that you should consider if you have a thyroid problem (either Hashimoto's thyroiditis or hypothyroidism):

#1. Diet (what you eat!)

This is one of the biggest things that you can do right away to improve your thyroid. But what should you be eating?

I've included a list of thyroid approved diets which you can follow. All of these have several things in common and should help to naturally improve your thyroid:

AIP diet, whole 30, elimination diet, gluten-free/dairy-free diet, and keto diet.

Just starting with any of these is better than eating the standard american diet.

#2. Vitamins/supplements)

Most people think they can just jump on any old thyroid support supplement and call it a day. I would challenge that way of thinking and instead focus on problems which exist in your body which also negatively impact your body.

You can address things like gut dysfunction, weight loss (by taking certain supplements), and hormone imbalances.

By doing this you can indirectly improve your thyroid function.

#3. Meditation.

Meditation is probably the most underutilized therapy. Meditation helps reduce stress, it helps clam down inflammation, and it helps with anxiety/depression. If stress is killing your thyroid gland then you MUST be meditating.

#4. Essential oils.

Essential oils can help improve your thyroid via aromatherapy or because of their action on your cells. The essential oils that I recommend for thyroid function include:

Peppermint (helps improve exercise capacity)
Lavender (helps reduce cortisol)
Lemongrass (helps with inflammation)

#5. Yoga.

Lastly, yoga can be used to help drive down stress but also to act as an exercise (which increases your thyroid directly).

What helped me with my hypothyroidism is detoxing my body. For me the best detox is drinking food grade Diatomaceous earth, then eating daily brazil nuts, with a few sprinkles of nori flakes and black cumin seed powder. I really feel it’s helping me! What I need to control is my stress levels because as soon I’m getting emotionally stressed out my thyroid flares up so I definitively find help from essential oils. It’s good to share on here what helped others. Love to all of you beautiful souls🌸❤️

3 years ago, I was taking 130 mg NP Thyroid twice a day.
Now I am @ 90 mg twice a day.
I am very strict Keto/LowCarb as I am Prediabetic (now stabile/well controlled). Before last Fall, I would cheat some, not realizing how badly it affected my blood glucose. My A1C was climbing. I buckled down to strict Keto, no cheats + have improved my A1C (Huge familial risk for Diabetes)
I use SEED + other probiotics, a couple of Thyroid support supplements, many other supplements: S-Glutathione (vs Macular Degeneration), several dealing with blood sugar, carb + protein digestion etc. I make active culture yogurt + eat it daily in foods.
I rarely eat out. I make 98% of what I eat (whole foods). Last year, I decided I was Gluten intolerant. Removing gluten decreased much of my indigestion + gas problems. I've been adding in more broccoli + salads, (yogurt + a bit of cream + a tiny bit of vinegar = great coleslaw/salad dressing).
My meditation = quilting. Great way to de-stress.
I asked my GP why we had been able to lower my NP Thyroid so much in last 2 years. He said "some times the Thyroid is sluggish + spurts..."
I had decided it was the supplements I have added. I think the Zou Thyroid support was started 2-3 yrs ago. S- Glutathione + Seed were last year. I've lost 60 pounds over 8-10 years. Your information has validated what I had learned/ put into use. Thanks!

Essential oils are a lifesaver for me. I use them immediately when a flare up comes on. They have a wonderful impact on anxiety especially. My go to e.o. cocktail is lavender, peppermint, frankensense, and tea tree oil. Several drops on a tissue- directly inhale as needed.

Thank you Dr for all your messages. The information is very comprehensive and very informative.
I am tweaking my diet, again. 5 years with diagnosed Hashimoto's and feeling progressively better.
I'm always looking for current information to continue improving my health. Reducing coffee, is the hardest 😊 so far, but I'm getting there. Please keep up the excellent advice 🇦🇺

I do all of the above mentioned #1. (vegan, gluten free, organic diet), #2. vitamins & supplements #3. meditate every day (since I am producing music I created my own binaural & asmr meditation series. if you are interested I'd be happy to send you some music to test. It's very good for power-nap as well) #4. essential oil aroma #5. yoga's improved my overall health including thyroid big time <3 ...and fascia stretching
it works really well for me. My symptoms went from 100% down to 0% within several months of research, testing, more research (before I found your blog), adjusting... I don't know what my lab tests say but I give it some months more time before I check so everything can settle down.
Thank you Dr. Childs for your priceless tips and a Happy 2020 for you!

I do Keto since 2015 and My imflammation has dramastically reduced. I used to feel tired all day long, but now I am capble of workouting out and since then rarely feel the need to take naps. I take suppliments like zinc and selenium and recently added Brazil nuts. I would like to fix the dry skin, I just don’t know how. No meditation or yoga yet, but essential oils. Diet makes the most noticable changes.

I am Gluten sensitive & Hypo -Thyroid, Been doing Paleo for many years. . 2 years ago switched to Keto. Not much change in weight loss on Keto. I have been using Peppermint & Lavender essential oils - both are calming to me. My exercise is a daily walk Outside in the fresh air. I also use Apple Cider Vinegar & Betaine HCL as a digestive aid, as I have very slow digestion. Drink lots of Green Matcha Tea - full of antioxidants.

My naturopath suggested the Specific Carb Diet (SCD) when I was first diagnosed with thyroid and RA. It helped a lot, unfortunately I have gotten away from it due to work load and time. It is based in cooking all from scratch. I use peppermint, lavender, and lemongrass e.o. to clean with helps my MCS good to know it helps my thyroid too

thank you for concisely explaining how things like essential oils and yoga heal. You always hear these things touted but no one ever explains how they work, almost as if they don't really know how or even if they do work. It makes me more motivated hearing your explanation to want to try the peppermint for breathing and exercise tolerance, the lavender for cortisol reduction, and the lemongrass for anti-inflammation. I started doing my yoga practice just one simple pose every morning, and I got to really enjoy it and I added other poses because I know it's going to make me feel so good. I didn't know it was stretching the fascia which helps circulation. Sort of how people with tight scalps lose their hair. The tightness doesn't allow the blood circulation if you make a fist you have white knuckles because the blood can't get through that stretched skin.

Great videos and thank you so much. My question is on diabetes and hypothyroidism. I've had thyroid disease for 25 years and went from hyper to hypo because my radiation was done incorrectly. We are currently redoing my prescription amount and I do see some change but I'm still way off on feeling better or normal. High stress, low drive, can't lose weight, losing hair, etc. Im on my 3rd endocrinologist. What would you recommend.

The three essential oils you recommend, I recently started drinking those teas. Not regularly enough yet, not until I get rid of the decaf coffee for good.

It is not safe for the body to injest essentila oils as such. If you wish to intake essential oils inside the body, it is better to purchase an appropriate hydrosol. It is make in a distillation process and is made specifically for healthy injestion.
