What to use instead of thyroid medication, a list of natural therapies that can be used in place of thyroid medications like levothyroxine and Synthroid. NOT everyone can use these therapies but they should ALWAYS be considered if you have a thyroid problem.

NEVER stop your thyroid medication without first consulting with your physician!

Just about every day I get questions about alternative options for thyroid medications. Is there anything else that you can use? Do they actually work? We are going to discuss that today.

BEFORE I DO! Make sure you understand that you should not stop your thyroid medication without first consulting your doctor. There are some people who must be on thyroid medication forever and you must know if you fit into that category. Stopping your thyroid medications abruptly without the assistance of a physician can be dangerous.

On the other hand, there are many people with thyroid disease who may be able to decrease their medication with the right therapies. And these are the people I am talking to now!

These therapies may be able to hep you improve your thyroid function naturally. They can be used with all types of thyroid medications and may help your thyroid function on its own.

5 Therapies to use instead of thyroid medications include:

#1. Thyroid glandulars
#2. Adrenal glandulars
#3. Iodine
#4. Essential oils
#5. Natural desiccated thyroid (NDT)

I have Hashimoto's since the last two years. I took iodine last year for three months religiously. Helped a lot in removing the brain fog, fatigue and joint pain. I also used lavender and frankincense essential oils, sprinkling them on my pillow before sleeping. Helped drastically with my insomnia. I am much better after using both

I was diagnosed with hashimoto's in 2020, and put on levothyroxine. I didn't like the way it made me feel, so I started to look into alternatives. I found out that Brazil nuts are very high in selenium and that 3 per day will give you your daily amount that your thyroid would produce. So I stopped my levothyroxine and started doing the Brazil nuts. My doctor is amazed at my #s. He said it's working, so keep doing it! I have, and every test has come out good. I also developed a gluten sensitivity and asthma and had to go off gluten. It's been 5 years now and everything is under control, without prescriptions. There is always a alternative, if you do the research. I also have a lot of other issues, and one by one I will fine a way to get them under control also. I hope this information will help someone out there who is looking for another way to treat yourself other then prescriptions. God bless you all!!!

Made up my mind years ago that I didn't want to be on med's all my life. So 10yrs ago my GP put me on Levothyroxine for Hypothyroid. I did a LOT of research and I started using Lugols Iodine trans dermal about 8 yrs ago. I literally paint a 2" square on my forearm once a week - and hey presto no Levothyroxine! My doctor laughed at me initially, but subsequent blood tests have revealed that my thyroid is now ok. However I have experience hair loss (maybe due to the Levothyroxine?), and have put myself on iron tablets - yet to see improvement. There are a lot of natural remedies out there for us to utilise - including essential oils and herbs. So much better than pharmaceuticals!!

I have been on Levothyroxine 17 years, I still have heaps of problems, some things you mention are not accessible here in the UK only on line and Doctors are not usually willing to try anything but Levothyroxine most of the time, I will order some iodine to try, you give some really good information out and if not for our own research and people like you we would be in a mess so I thank you for that and thank the people in the comments who have shared their own experiences and products or ideas ❤

I started on Synthroid when I was 16 years old. That was 63 years ago. At one point, I was up to 275 MCG, daily which I now think was an excessive dose but thyroid research was still very young back then, and I'm not sure anyone really knew what the correct dose was. I was actually part of the first study (or one of them) to figure out dosage. Eventually, weekly draws of blood blew the veins in my arms and I had to stop participating. As far as I know, my mother was the first person to have her thyroid gland ablated. At least her physician told her it had never been done before so wasn't sure what the fall out might be. She lived about 30 years without a thyroid but her early death was not due to any complications with her lack of thyroid gland. Years later, my brother had his thyroid ablated and seems to be doing well without a thyroid. I have Hashimoto's, so I'm not sure I can go off of Levothyroxine but I have been able to reduce my dosage to 75 MCG. I also have a hiatal hernia, from taking Synthroid, but other than that, the side effects have been minimal over 63 years.

Timely video! I’ve been using the adrenal glandulars from ancestral supplements for the past 2 years, I have next to no cortisol & cortisone and what I do have is flat lined throughout the day all at a very minimal levels. Any amount of stress had me feeling like I would die. They help take the edge off that hellish response as well as the helpless fear response that would leave me aching in cold sweats. Typically I only use them when I feel I absolutely need to which is less than 3 x a month.
Yesterday I was looking into their thyroid glandulars since my TSH is 6.5 for the past few years.. for whatever reason, my age or because I’m not overweight (which I am for my family’s build& how Ive always been, lost a ton of muscle etc especially considering I put on over 30lbs of pure fat in less than 7 months without changing anything diet wise, skin, hair changes freezing etc) ND’s have only given me iodine - without measuring my own levels. I myself have ordered my own dutch tests etc & been trying to sort my adrenals out but Im thinking now its a top down thing since my adrenal numbers have worsened. Unsure just yet about the T4 in the desiccated thyroid glandular from ancestral supplements, I’ll look into it more.
thank you for making this video, it’s truly helpful!

My thyroid was removed about 12 years ago. I am on levothyroxin. If there came a time, when thyroid meds were unattainable, how would we be able to supplement this medication?

Since iodine in oral form may be difficult to regulate...I use liquid iodine and paint on size of 50 cent piece..body will only absorb what it needs...so no possible overdose...

Thank you for another informative video, Dr. Childs. I especially appreciate that you included those of us without a thyroid due to surgery or ablation. I am going to start iodine in addition to my Synthroid. Also look into essential oils. I will have to start low & slow as everything tends to affect my super sensitive system. :)

I'm thinking this is good to know in case Thyroid medication becomes unavailable due to shortges. 90% of our pharmaceuticals have been made in China, but now that's stopped.

When you say NDT oh, are you referring to Armour Thyroid?
