Michae Stipe said the song is about being in love with someone but not being able to tell them, and worrying that you will let your feelings slip out. 'Hint of the century' 'Oh no I've said too much'.

I will recommend their song "It's the End of the World as we Know it".

Great 80's band. Even as a metalhead I got into them back in the day. Have this album and greatest hits double album.

This song is about unrequited love. Once you have that in mind, listen to it again and it makes completes sense.
I also used to listen to this song when I was a kid and never really analyzed the lyrics and picked it back up again when I was an adult, and I love this song now.

By the way, I love the videos, Asia and BJ.
Keep them coming!

Their signature song is "Everybody Hurts." And the music video is absolutely epic.

Love you guys ❤ "Everybody Hurts", "Stand", "The One I Love", and "Shiny Happy People" are some more great REM songs. ☮❤

What I love so much about these type of songs, is that the meaning is individual to the person who is listening to it ❤ REM does like to delve deep into lyrics, & if you haven't listened or reacted to their Everybody Hurts, I would highly recommend it! Great reaction & commentary guys !!!

Georgia has had some big musicians/groups come out of it and they are near the top.

Both of you seem so genuine and sincere with your reactions. It's gratifying to see someone enjoying a 'new' song that I've been loving for decades. Keep it up, y'all!!

For what it's worth I'm told Losing my religion is a southern expression that means losing you sh*t. Losing one's temper and saying things not in line with your religious upbringing.

R.E.M. were one of the few bands to successfully maintain their independence and guided their career largely as they wanted to. They made very few concessions to or compromises with record companies or management agencies. I think they were able to do this because, along the way, they found people who could help them who were genuine fans, and bigger financial interests realized that if you pushed these guys, they would have no hesitation about just making records in somebody's garage studio and playing college hangouts and dive bars in front of 20 people for the rest of their lives...

Anything REM. One of my favorite bands! They don't get enough play time on reaction videos. So much to uncover from them

i was a teenager in the 80s and loved them, still do. Really emotional and meaningful songs - its so enjoyable. Other hits songs i like "going back to rockville" "So. Central Rain" "Pretty Persuasion" "This one goes out to the one i love" "superman" "feeling gravity's pull" "radio free europe" "Perfect circle" .... those are a few of my favs

"Losing my religion" is a southern expression meaning being at the end of one's rope.

I love his dance moves in this. My son impersonates him, perfectly, all the time 💞
