😢This song has SAVED so many lives....including mine...in so many dark and hopeless times.💔 It has been used a lot in suicide awareness campaigns - it's heart-breaking, but somehow gives you hope? Such an important song for so many people. Like the song says Everybody Hurts & some of us almost take that final step. Michael Stipe was a good friend of Kurt Cobain, and was devastated when he committed suicide just a year after this single was released. But as we know, for some people, the PAIN is just too much 🖤 R.E.M. will always be remembered for giving people this timeless saviour.

The beauty of this song is that is basically says we are in all in the same boat. Every single one of us is going through some shit, and it's not about comparing shit - who is worse off etc - it's about just realizing everyone you meet is going through something that means EVERYTHING to them. You may have gone through worse, but they haven't, and it's killing them inside. Just be a good bastard to everybody you possibly can be a good bastard too!

I highly recommend checking out the video for this song. It complements the song perfectly. It’s about a bunch of people stuck in a traffic jam (separate but together) and subtitles showing their personal thoughts and struggles, then they all just get out of their cars at once and start walking together. It is absolutely beautiful.
