It’s kind of mind blowing how much this song went over their heads lol

i was in that crowd, 16 years old at the time. The jumping crowd at the end of this song caused seismic sensors in the neighborhood to send out earthquake alarms. One of the best live performances i ever had the privilege of actually experiencing for real. Great memories....

Legend has it these guys still haven’t “heard” Rage Against the Machine.

It's so good that this generation can still get so much from my generation of music/musicians. Gen X babay... We were always ON IT!!!

Hey, guys, love your videos. This song is about fascism, police brutality, and institutionalized racism - it's not about being mad at your parents.

Pro Tip: always have the lyrics handy when doing RATM songs. They’re important. 👍

Wow! I'm disappointed in you guys. If only you had looked at the lyrics, you would've realized how much of a iconic band they really were and still are. They really were ahead of their time. They are always in my playlist. Absolutely love them. I recommend you check them out again with the lyrics.

The worst thing is that they don’t realize that the chorus is “ some of those who work forces, are the same that burn crosses” this apparently has no meaning to them

Fun fact: here in the U.K. everyone got tired of the music charts having x-factor contestants signed by Cowell as the number 1 every year as it seemed super rigged, so everyone voted for Killing in the Name and it was No1 for weeks. Best Christmas No1 ever 👏🏼

"Those who died are justified for wearing the badge. they're the chosen whites." and "Some of those who work forces are the same who burn crosses." are the most important lyrics.

My man has SERIOUS BARS. Killing in the name doesn’t show off that side of his skills. If you’re willing to listen to a few more tracks you won’t be disappointed. Freedom, Wake Up, Mic Check … the list goes on and on. More Rage please!

I’m a 57 yo middle class woman & this is still one of my favourites!!! I still love to play it incredibly loud & shout at the top of my lungs! 😂

The singer is of Mexican decent and the guitarist is half black. Look up the lyrics to the song. These guys are actually highly intelligent and are making a point.

Hope you guys gave this band a better listen. Their lyrics are so relevant in our current climate-and they sang these 25-30 years ago. Unbelievable band.

This song was heavily inspired by the Rodney King incident. It was literally the banner song of protest for the 90's. It defined my generation.

Early 90s, explosive anger directed at Police violence and state violence.

Those mosh pits were nuts, yet oddly caring. I remember a girl was crowd surfing during a RATM show and Zach DeLaRosa stopped the song and called out some creep copping g a feel on this young teen girl.

I was astonished that he was teaching extreme protest of government violence and control AND mutual respect in a rock show.

I love these guys and I really enjoyed watching these young guys get into this powerful music.

these guys were definitely FAR from zumies... they were actually the exact opposite. they didn't care about fashion. the lead singer was/is an actual activist, so much so, that it hindered the band's career. he was actually about that life, not like these internet activists today. these guys were among the last of a dying breed 🙏🏽

This song condemns white supremacy and police brutality.

The lyrics were "Some of those who work (police) forces are the same who burn crosses" and "Those who died are justified, by wearing a badge (police) they're the chosen whites".

Most Rage songs are about oppression or injustice.

As black men, y'all MUST hear:

- "Know Your Enemy" WITH lyrics (need the lyrics for that one)
- The official music video for "Bulls on Parade" (probably their most famous song of all time)
- "The Ghost of Tom Joad" WITH lyrics (need the lyrics for that one)
- "Renegades of Funk"

You need to watch LYRICS videos of the ALBUM versions: Killing in the Name, Down Rodeo, Know Your Enemy, Take the Power Back, Wake Up.

You can tell the dude in red clearly the most enlightened in the room. He process everything Adam was saying. That generational music went hard, but still has something real to say we will never have that again.
