Family of British-Egyptian political prisoner Alaa Abd el-Fattah hold vigil in London

Supporters and family of prominent imprisoned British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah gathered outside London’s Foreign Office on Monday to hold a Christmas vigil and to call for his release.

Fattah ended a hunger strike in November after more than 200 days, but is still imprisoned in Egypt. According to rights groups, Egypt currently holds over 60,000 political prisoners in jail.

If I am imprisoned, it is seclusion for worship. If I am killed, it is martyrdom. If they expel me from my land, it is tourism.”
