I love Alaa and his family ♥️ His father helped thousands of people get a decent defense at courts and rehabilitation after imprisonment, Alaa and his sisters Mona and Sanaa are advocating for human rights and many more great causes. they are the most heartwarming family I've seen in Egypt ♥️ Alaa must be free along with the thousands in forced disappearance, pre-trial detentions for years, political prisioners and political prisoners who were accused of violent criminal charges and wrongfully sentenced with no evidence. It must happen.

Alaa is charged with "spreading fake news online" yeah that's an actual criminal charge in Egypt, sadly. For a post he didn't even write, just shared. He was refered to a "special" homeland security court, which is more circus than a court really, the judge didn't allow the defense to see any case files or examine any evidence. Alaa got maximum sentence of 5 years. Next move? Appeal? Wrong! Appeals are not allowed in this kind of court. You can't call for a re-trial either. Did I mention that since Arab spring 2011 Alaa was jailed 4 times for bullshit charges like this? For a total jail time of 9 years? His only true crime they can't charge him with, is that he was a prominent political activist during the 2011 revolution. All influential people from that time were targeted and silenced, threatened, exiled, killed, jailed or forcibly disappeared. This must end now.
