I attended welding school in 2011. I left the school with 10 certifications verified by x-ray, the most certifications in the class. I even learned acetylene gas welding with a torch.
To TIG weld a gap, you can lay the wire in the gap or weave. Weaving is frowned upon in some cases, but acceptable in others. Ricky, to get your heat range close, measure the thickness of your material. 1amp per . 001 of thickness is a good start. Mickey, to get in those tight shorts, pull your tungsten out more. Prop your arm in a stable condition for better consistency. Aluminum and stainless will not forgive you for mistakes. Too hot or too slow, it will tell on you. This makes me want to take another welding class, it's so much fun🏆💪

This was fun to watch. You don’t always have to turn wrenches to have great car content. Plus this is something I have always wanted to do.

Dude. Thin aluminum tube is fricking HARD. I'm doing my intercooler pipes right now, and if your fit up is not exactly perfect then you might as well forget about it. The foot pedal control is SO critical on that thin aluminum. Another fun video as always guys! Love seeing guys who have been in the industry for a good decade longer than me struggle with the same issues as me lol

In a week, That's ridiculous. It took me 2 months to learn TIG and another 2 to learn WIG. Electrode welding even took me 4 months. Respect though. You'll get better over time. Just never stop welding and you'll be fine

Exactly this month I finished my studies in tig and mig welding, it is so gratifying to see how it goes hand in hand with the manufacture of parts to modify cars, Greetings from cd.juarez México

Great to see! I'm new to welding, and am learning TIG at the moment - so it's great to see video of others not instantly turning out perfect welds :)

You listen to them, but this what i do, (i work for Honda welding frames, i was trained by Honda) for TIG certain metals you have to pull your puddle. But the way i do it is is i hold my filler rod at a 35 degree angle along the length of the what i want to weld, i ark n when that puddle hits orange i slide. Slide mean you PUSH your puddle along the joint n filler. At that point you use your technique during the slide, wether it’s cursive e’s, curlies, or push and pull etc. n you slowly lower your filler rod to keep your pool a consistent size.
For mig, thats even easier thats just trigger pulling, you just have find your angle, watch your wire, n be mind full of your pool temp it gets too hot n you WILL punch through.
Watch your wire just means b4 you arc make sure the wire isnt too long or too short. Too long the gasses wont be able to shield the pool n it will spatter n pop. Too close n it will get hot on you really quickly, n depending on how thick the material is you could blow through real quick.
Lastly for MIG i know alot of place teach you to lock your wrist n slide along with the puddle. But in automotive, SXS, ATV you dont have any room to do that. So learning how to roll your wrist is quite valuable. Again i talking about very tight spaces n almost no room to work.

Welding is just one of those thing were is seems like you wont get it then one day it just clicks

Way to go! If there's one thing everyone should strive for, it's to be the best versions of themselves! Perfecting your craft isn't easy and it requires humility and the willingness to push forward! You both did amazingly! Yes, you were already doing this kind of work before. Now, you can do it better and know that you're sending out a far better product! Along with that, you can pass the skills onto others! I going to learn how to weld one day and hope to understand more about the tasks and trials you were going through! It just looks amazing and I want to understand it. Thank you for the video! It was awesome to watch!

My biggest gripe with welding was always not being able to see. I have to lean in close, very close and keep the shade at like 11-12. After awhile of leaning in I realized sometimes I need to lean at different angles while still staying close. Basically move my body however I needed to go see well and still be comfortable with my hands. One last thing for people who can’t see, it might be obvious to some but for me it took awhile to realize the overhead lights would create a glare inside the shield. I made a cape (they sell them) and now I have zero issues seeing. I literally went for years complaining about my vision thinking it was my glasses.
