Fr tho. I used to work in a metal fab shop during highschool and the guy welding was always coughing and spitting up these black chunks. Also the smell shop lasted hours

You could wear a respirator but all you really need is good ventilation set up a couple fans where you’re working blowing away from you. Problem solved.

Honestly I don’t have any issues with my eyes when it comes to welding, the respirator is a must though. But when it comes to my eyes I genuinely don’t experience any pain, soreness or loss

Where the right protective gear and you will NOT damage yourself at all. It may be expensive but so is trying to heal your body after you’ve beat it up. Keep welding. Be smart.

I developed light sensitivity welding. Now im much more cautious and mindful about my health. 7years in and don’t plan on stopping soon.

Get a PAPR system and you won’t regret it.

They’re expensive, but if you want to make a career out of welding then that is the way to go.

I’d strongly recommend Optrel.

The first thing I bought was the proper gear and I still have no issues after 9 Years of welding offshore. Sometimes submerged sometimes in the dry

I quit welding because of my lungs from breathing in that welding smoke all the time. Work at a state park doing maintenance now and love it. Mainly outside work.

Every good paying trade does. “If you don’t have back pain, you aren’t really working” - a carpenter

same applies to any job really, you deal with the pain of doing the work to provide and live. It ain’t the easiest life, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the other options.

Having a Good Welderhood with respirator helps with sight and lungs. And get some massages here and there.

What’s the big difference between the 2 and your still welding being in Fab is it just a lot less welding and more creating designed and cutting metal etc ?

You need to have a good ventilation. We had these vacuums sucking all the dust from the welding

I started when I was 13 and did it for 10 years. It's rough on your eyes and lungs for sure.
