Experiencing heart palpitations can be an uncomfortable – and unnerving – experience. They’re often harmless, but sometimes they can be a sign of a more serious problem, like an arrhythmia. Cardiologist Chris Armstrong, MD, goes over the signs and symptoms of arrhythmias, as well as what to do if you experience heart palpitations.

Hey Doc,

My palpitations started when I misused Pre-workout supplements and over time it went away. I no longer take any supplements whatsoever. However, I do notice that I get these feelings where my heart essentially shifts from it's locations, pumps really fast, and is trying to catch up to something. It just occurred a while ago as I was simply laughing. I don't think they last long, my concern is that it feels like it's been happening frequently, I get this feeling once every 2 days.

Should I see a cardiologist?
