19s are fantastic on stock suspension. Ran 275/30 +22 rears and 235/35 +20 fronts for the longest time. Bought coilovers and had to be at max height in order to not be touching the tire while idling. I’m switching to a 18x9.5 245/35 square setup from now on.

19" with 225/35 in the uk. Our roads suck, but after doing the same routes for years you get to know where the holes / sunken drains are so you can weave with confidence 😉

the title acts like you're talking about 19 inch wheels but really you're talking about undersized tire sidewalls for specifically your bmw...

I’m running 235/35/19 and am super happy I went with 19”. I had 18” on my 4 series and always wish I woulda went with 19”, so that was definitely the direction I took when I got my GTI. I agree, roads def play a factor. Oklahoma roads aren’t THAT bad & I will say, I’ve had two sets of tires on the GTI & the tires make a huge difference in ride quality. I went with nankang starting out, horrible choice. Bad ride quality - felt like I was driving with cement blocks. Changed to nitto and the difference is night and day.

440i F36 XDrive car here, on stock springs. I pick up my set of 19x8.5" ET40 front and 19x9.5" ET45 rears, with 245/40R19 and 275/35R19 tomorrow. These tires are between .5-.7" larger in diameter than stock. I also picked up a set of 5mm wheel spacers, just in case I have any clearance issues. Went with a slightly taller than stock tire combo 1) to fill in the 4x4 like wheel gaps that the XDrive cars have, 2) for a little added ground clearance, and 3) to get a little more tire side wall to improve ride quality. They're still within 0.5% of one and other, so they XDrive should stay happy. Car is Estoril Blue, with VMR 703's powder coated in bronze. Pretty pumped to see it.

Funny story, after making this video I went to Detroit for a concert and people down there are running 26"+!!! Can't even see the tires! Just looks like they are gliding down the street on just the rim lmao

Good advice! I always advise the exact same thing. I bought a black E93 with M Sports package. It was on 19” M Performance wheels during the testdrive. It was really annoying, especially with the top down. So after the test drive I asked them to change the wheels for 18” M wheels of another E93 that was standing next to mine in the showroom. Luckily they did that without any charge. I am so glad I did that, because it drives perfect on the 18” rims and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

I drive 235/35/19 BBS Ch-r in Serbia, roads are very bad, only highway is good. And so far it is holding ok, once I bent rim little bit on very bad road in 3 years of driving, I did not have flat tyre during driving. Comfort is ok for me :), and handling on nice roads is amazing. I have to take care and drive on highway/track mostly though.

I’ve got verde v99 axis wheels, 19s on a g37. No problems what so ever. Just avoid pot holes and there shouldn’t be any issues

My setup is 18" rims, 8J front 225/40 and 8, 5J rear 255/35 on original Styling 32 with 15mm spacers front and 20mm rear. Looks good as hell and rides smoothly enough for our czech roads. Oh and the grip is noticeably better than the 205/55 i use during winter^^

I've had my e90 335i sedan for 6 years with m suspension and had 19's and went back to aftermarket 18"s. I would have to say 18s ride better then the 19s.

And lowering dosn't change anything? You can't blame the 19" lowering does affect your comfort as well

I am running the Styling 162 (R18 8J +34 front, 8.5J +37 rear), but I got myself the Styling 94 from the 7er. Those are the R18 8J +24 sqaured and I look forward for installing them. I like their look on a E90.

I have an F30 340i with M Performance spec and came with 19” wheels. Looks proper.

I'm running 19s on my car for around 2 years now, and I'm on my 4th set of 19 inch wheels, never had any issues with tyres such as rubbing. I went for 19inch so i could have wider rear tyres for better grip and performance (although its not a very powerful car, i plan on getting a tune done soon, i went for tyres that have a good dry & wet traction rating & a good speed rating). My wheel specs are
Front : 19inch 8.5j 5/120 with 235/35/19 tyres
Rear : 19inch 9.5j 5/120 with 265/30/19tyres (i wanted to go for a 35 profile but that size tyre was out of the recommended spec as it would cause clearance issue according to the tyre fitment guys)

maybe this is just me but i love the look of smaller diameter rims on newer cars. something about having a lot of tire sidewall visible just really does it for me

I am also running 18s on my E90 with the msport suspension set up. I wanted to go 19 but opted to stick with the 18s especially since our roads here in South Africa are plagued with potholes.
