The Fate Of Alicent Hightower after the dance of the dragons is a sad and lonely one. All her children were dead, and only her granddaughter the little queen Jaehaera still lived. But even then the girl was as broken as the boy king Aegon iii. A deadly winter fever was moving from port to port and now it had come to Kings Landing' where it would claim the lives of the high lords and small folk with no regard for station. The winter fever had it's sight set on the Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

Alicent coming to hate the color green in her final days is just so.... ironic...

The Winter Fever was a tragedy for most of Westeros. For Alicent, it seems to have been a merciful end.

I wonder if Alicent had nothing but regret once she lost all her children and grandchildren. Did she really feel like it was worth it? I know people defend her saying it was to protect her children but crowning Aegon as King didn't save him nor Aemond, Helena, Jahaerys, Jahaera, Maelor and Daeron. It got them all killed. If she truly wanted to save her children she shouldn't have taught them to hate Rhaenyra and her son's, teaching them to see their nephews as competition causing division within House Targaryen.

For Alicent, the hate of the color green is herself. She wore that color to fight for children’s rights but in the end, it cost them their lives. I actually feel her no parent should have to outlive their child 😢

You're damn right Alicent never spoke about seeing Viserys again. She probably dreaded facing him in the afterlife and having to explain to him how her actions lead to the deaths of his brother, children and most of his grandchildren. Not to mention that she left him to rot in his chamber for days while she schemed against Rhaenyra. Show Alicent is far more sympathetic, but book Alicent is just a B word on wheels.

Alicent tried to save her children by crowning Aegon as King, but at the end the war she caused was the event that caused the death of her entire family: her father, her children and most of her grandchildren. And it was for naught, as Rhaenyra would have never killed her half-siblings, and would have given them places of honor in court.
Like we say, "the path to h*ll is through good intentions".
I kinda think that's why Aegon III didn't kill her. Living with the consequences of her ambition was a fate worse than anything he could have thought.

Viserys: You put our son on the throne?
Alicent: Yes
Viserys: What did it cost?
Alicent: Everything

Yeesh. The Dance is nothing but layers of misery, loss, and trauma. George must be very pleased with himself 😁

I was wondering how her end would come. At first I thought she’d die screaming but in a way this was far worse. She outlived her entire family and everyone she knew. Even the Velaryons died before her. Then she suffered for days from an illness before joining Rhaenyra into that good night.

I always hear people mainly Team Black complain that she got the easy ending and got away for all of her actions and scheming compared to Rhaenyra.

But imo losing your father, sibling, people around you to war, outliving all of your children who died brutal deaths while going insane is a terrible fate.

I don’t know whose fate is worse. Even though rhaenyra got the most brutal death and was eaten piece by piece by a dragon and lost all of her eldest sons besides aegon and viserys, Alicent lost EVERYONE (deservedly so due to her insatiable ambition and her father’s). Amazing how a few greedy people can destroy a powerful dynasty. Honestly it’s the perfect fate for Alicent, to have to live with the horrors of her choices.

Did anyone miss how kind Aegon III was to the dying Tyland Lannister, holding his hand while he was dying? Tyland planned to have Aegon III killed while he was serving Aegon II, but Aegon III still showed him this kindness...

What always surprised me is how House Hightower never faced any long term backlash for their part in this civil war.

Since they change Alicent in the show (she probably didn't read to the dying King Jaehaerys in the show storyline), I have a feeling when they eventually show her death, her last words will be about Rhaenyra.

She regretted fighting her best friend Rhaenyra.
I think tearing the color green is a sign of her regret in starting the war by wearing the color green (THat was the start of the dance)

Alicent knew her dead ex husband was going to kick her in the back side. For killing nearly all of his line.

Like I was once read in Reddit, I think they'll change Alicent's last words in the show if they ever get there.
Her last words will mention her children, but alter the last part: "...And Rhaenyra, we will read together, like we used to when we were children."
I'd like to add another possibility as well. Mirroring her husband's death and if you think she loved Rhaenyra, her last words might also be "Please forgive me, my love".

While ultimately House Targaryen lost the Dance Of The Dragons, I feel like the Green faction really had it slightly worse. At least Rhaenyra had her line continue. The Greens had their line decimated and their crowning of Aegon at the end was for nothing since none of their male heirs lived.

I think with the series of marriages between Alicent and Rhynera's children, would have avoided the war, maybe even marry beala or rahena with aemond or the youngest alicent son . Since everyone is saying how daemon would kill alicent's children . It was actually the green's stupidity and power hungry nature that got them killed, and you cannot change my mind .

I wonder if she felt it was worth it. Lost all her children most of her grandchildren, uncle and brothers. All for what?
