Dawid Podsiadło — Let You Down (from the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners).

Music Video directed by Ilya Kuvshinov and produced by STUDIO MASSKET.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premieres tomorrow only on Netflix.

Lyrics:

Feel the rhythm of the streets
Neon lights and neon dreams
Bloody fists they feel no pain
When there’s so much more to gain

Hunting season if you will
Tell me where’d you’d rather be
I can hardly see the moon
Hope we’ll get there pretty soon

Trying so hard to release
You out of the misery
Hold on to your wishes
If you can’t hold on to me

Forgive me for letting you down
Forgive me for letting you down again
Guess I’m not strong enough
Right now

They will finally feel the flames
Flames that run down through my veins
I will make this city burn
We’re not planning to return

Trying so hard to be free
To make you see what I see
Hold on to your wishes
If you can’t hold on to me

Forgive me for letting you down
Forgive me for letting you down again
Guess I’m not strong enough
Right now

Forgive me for letting you down
Forgive me for letting you down again
I guess I’m not strong enough
Right now

Let you down
Oh, let you down
Let you down
Oh, let you down

ABOUT CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS
The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.

CD PROJEKT RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series with Rafał Jaki (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher: Ronin) as Showrunner and Executive Producer, with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor and Saya Elder serving as producers. The team at CD PROJEKT RED has been working on this new series since 2018. Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio on the series and bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with their signature, vibrant style. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions 'The Elder'). The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).

Imagine you just finished watching Edgerunners and came here to find the ED for the anime only to have your heart totally wrecked for the second time. I know because that happened to me too.

How to tell if it's a Cyberpunk story:
1. It's super well written
2. it's sad

Having just finished the series, this hits me hard. A story showing a man losing what makes him human that will never truly leave me. Thank you Trigger. Thank you CD Projekt Red. And remember…you’re special…

Very impressed that they managed to get a whole extra canon story from this music video, this is bonus content after just finishing the show

She died with a smile on her face, and that's more than most people get in night city. She's a certified badass.

In 4 minutes they managed to introduce a completely new character, Sasha, tell her story, make us care about her and feel devastated by her tragic fate. Bravo.

Ladies, gentlemen: If there ever was a good storyboard with a compelling story told in under 5 minutes, this is it. This is a masterpiece in storytelling. In only short 4 minutes and 43 seconds, the story introduces a new character, makes you care about it, and makes you suffer with their fate. A Mastercraft right here.

You can see Maine's hand shaking seeing Sasha dead, such a small detail that adds so much to his personality.

Russian-born director in a Japanese animation studio makes a clip on a song with English lyrics, written by a Polish artist. It promotes a Japanese anime made in tandem with Polish game based on a setting of American author.

I love how this has the same theme you see a lot in Cyberpunk/Shadowrun-type media.

The moment a gig becomes personal, it's over.
People who do this kind of 'runner job for a living, they measure risk pretty well and they always ensure that they have a way out (otherwise they never would have lasted long enough to become professionals) but the moment something about the case personally involves you, you can't let it go anymore.

You run out the clock, you let your escape-window close without you and you start taking crazy risks.

It happened to Johnny, it happened to Sasha, it happened to V.

For those that don't understand the video, lore-wise this girl's mom was in the Unification War and was wounded somehow and took medication which ultimately killed her. Her daughter watched all this happen, grew up, and wanted revenge. She achieved a measure of it (Biotechnica still exists in V's time, a few years later) so it's unlikely much was achieved by this raid. But it did help Sasha reach closure, even if it killed her, hence why her current self was hugging her former child-self at the end.

This MV, and Anime itself has proved Johnny Silverhand's line on how true that was.

"Happier ending? For people like us? Wrong City, Wrong People."

Almost 2 years has passed and the depression from this anime is still here.

God, seeing Becca, Dorio and Maine again after finishing the series is heartwrenching.

This could also explain why Maine became a bit more protective over David. Faraday described him as being the type to become attached to his team, and it really seemed like he was trying very hard to keep David safe but still on board. Could be from the trauma he experienced from this tragic event.
