Im getting 19 extractions this afternoon & immediate dentures. Im scared to death. I have some Ativan that they prescribed but other than that I'm on tylenol & ibuprofen. Scared is an understatement.

I absolutely NEED to have surgery. Around 2010 my teeth were so brittle they began breaking (chewing food & then teeth !). Probably a combination of bad genes & I had been taking Methadone for over 12 yrs. Now I have only 'shards', not teeth. My life is MISERABLE. I've got to have dental surgery to pull out the 'shards', then get dentures. I'm really concerned about 'proper' pain management (yes OPIATES), whether it be for only 2wks or 4. I will not accept Ibuprofen because I know it will be painful. The insurance i'm looking into has a 9 month waiting list !

After a wisdom tooth extraction & bone graph surgery last week, I agree! Actually wished my expensive doc shared the same info prior to my surgery! Can you please address the heavy prescribed meds - Oxycodone & Vicodin - and natural pain-relief alternatives? The Oxy did not work for me, so I was then prescribed Vic. Do not want opioid addiction, hence as soon as the pain level decreased (took only one Vic), I stopped.

I am scheduled for flap surgery and tooth extraction in December. I am NOT supposed to eat or drink 8 hours before surgery because I will be under anesthesia. So I'm not sure why you're advising patients to eat before dental surgery.
